I like it but not enough to do a full translation and there's not much new stuff anyway other than the parts involving Yoshitsugu. This is just a quick summary using my own LQ photos of some pages (I know there are scans out there and it's probably not hard to find them).
The chapter starts at Sekigahara, with Mitsunari wondering if Yoshitsugu would arrive to help him and reflecting that on how his circumstances has changed (he has lost his lord and his friends) since "that time".
Flashback to Shizugatake.
Their grand entrances.
Yoshitsugu makes his entrance, whacking a mook that was about to attack Mitsunari from the back. Mitsunari tells him to mind his own business, like the BFF that he is. Also, it seems like Masanori and Kiyomasa aren't very familiar with Yoshitsugu at this point.
Hideyoshi actually looks pretty decent in that mop helmet! I just noticed that he's wearing the sunburst motif on his butt.
All the kids go on to fight for Hideyoshi's sake and wins the battle in due course. Hideyoshi gives Kiyomasa and Masanori the title of the 'Seven Spears of Shizugatake' for their deeds in the battle. He also names Mitsunari and Yoshitsugu as 'Ichibanyari' for their efforts in intelligence-gathering and supply management. Mitsunari goes all 'Lord Hideyoshi is praising me!' on the inside but externally, he's just like 'Well that's only to be expected'.
Onwards to Odawara. Kiyomasa and Masanori are with Hideyoshi's main army, attacking Odawara Castle.
Meanwhile, Mitsunari is in charge of attacking Oshi Castle. Mitsunari sticks with the water tactic despite the fact that it's not working, and Oshi Castle only surrenders after the attack on Odawara Castle succeeds. Even though Mitsunari technically won the battle, there are many who are dissatisfied with his command.
At the post-battle banquet, Hideyoshi praises both Masanori and Kiyomasa for their efforts in the battle.
And then it is Mitsunari's turn...
Hideyoshi: Mitsunari! I've heard about what happened at Oshi Castle. Your command of the water tactic was impressive! That is indeed the technique to pave the way to a peaceful world. I'm glad I left it to you!
Masanori isn't happy that Hideyoshi had praised Mitsunari despite his failure and Yoshitsugu explains that 'winning a battle is not everything'. He goes on to explain how Hideyoshi had already perfected his siege of Odawara Castle. Yet, Hideyoshi bid for time instead of attacking the castle right away. The reason for that is so that he can wait until the Hojo soldiers have weakened from hunger and exhaustion, and he could win the battle while reducing the number of deaths.
Similarly, Mitsunari knew that Oshi Castle would fall once the main Odawara Castle had fallen. Thus, he was also bidding for time, and chose the water tactic that would reduce the number of deaths. And that was what Hideyoshi meant by the way of fighting that would bring about a peaceful land.
Mitsunari just says that it's rude to speculate on Hideyoshi's true intentions. Sakon says that it's because Mitsunari doesn't talk about his intentions with anyone else that such misunderstandings happen.
Sakon calling all of them idiots.
Very important picture of Mitsunari smiling!!!
Onwards to Hideyoshi's death. The three idiots rush to Hideyoshi's bedside. Hideyoshi thanks Kiyomasa and Masanori for the hard work they had done for him, then asks Mitsunari to serve him tea.
Flashback to Hideyoshi and Mitsunari's first meeting, the 'three cups of tea' incident. Bby Mitsunari!!! (Also, looking at the panels with Mitsunari, Mitsunari's claws isn't part of his arm guard/sleeve. He was wearing the arm guard at the beginning of the death scene but took it off when he served tea to Hideyoshi /irrelevant)
(cries)
Hideyoshi: ...You were merely a page at a temple but you've come so far.
Hideyoshi tells Mitsunari to value his friends and protect the peaceful world with everyone.
Kiyomasa and Masanori burst into tears when Hideyoshi dies but Mitsunari immediately goes back to his work. Masanori gets incredibly upset with Mitsunari's lack of tears.
Yoshitsugu visits Mitsunari and says that the battle for the successor will begin again with Hideyoshi's death. Mitsunari swears that he'll protect the Toyotomi reign and is determined to stick to his resolve even when Yoshitsugu says that the advantage is not with the Toyotomi.
Yoshitsugu: I don't know who you're writing to but it'll be of no use if your words are blurred. You should rest for today.
Mitsunari is finally crying.
Mitsunari and Kiyomasa argues over fighting against Ieyasu versus submitting to him. This part is pretty much like the similar scenes in the games. But here, it shows that Mitsunari was strongly hoping that Kiyomasa would be the solid wall he could rely on to protect the Toyotomi.
Mitsunari meets with Yoshitsugu after that and pleads with Yoshitsugu to fight on his side. However, Yoshitsugu leaves him, saying that Mitsunari doesn't have the capability to be a commander.
And then, Sekigahara. (I really love how Mitsunari's outfit looks from the back!)
Mitsunari reflects that all those whom he had fought alongside were now siding with Ieyasu. Hideyoshi, Kiyomasa, Masanori and Yoshitsugu are all not with him now and he wonders if he can win.
Yoshitsugu appears! He reminds Mitsunari of the time when Yoshitsugu was suspected of being a spy during the battle of Komaki-Nagakute. Mitsunari had burned the "evidence", saying 'Oops... how careless of me. I do apologise, and I'll accept any punishment for this.' Eventually the matter was cleared up by Hideyoshi, but the other generals had ill feelings towards Mitsunari because of that.
Yoshitsugu: It's the same as what happened at Oshi Castle. You don't reveal your true intentions and thus, misunderstandings arise. Because of that, the troops will not side with you and you cannot be a commander. But... that's what I like about you. You're standing up against Ieyasu purely because you want to protect the Toyotomi reign... and I want to support you.
(Sakon: Don't forget about me!!)
Mitsunari realises that he too has friends by his side and strengthens his resolve to fight Ieyasu.
Appropriately flashy ending. Next chapter is Masamune's chapter.
