Scott's mom had been in bad health for some time; in addition to her lymphoma and various ongoing chronic issues, a series of infections had her in and out of the hospital. During the past few weeks she'd gone back into a care home to recover and get more physical therapy so she'd be better able to manage at home (though still with assistance). Unfortunately, over the weekend she developed pneumonia. She was transferred to the hospital and given several kinds of antibiotics, but the pneumonia did not respond, and she continued to decline. In accordance with her wishes, she was removed from life support this morning, and died shortly before noon Pacific time.
It's hard. She was a terrific woman. I'm glad she's no longer suffering, but sorry we didn't get to see her one last time.
It was a long time coming, but it was also kind of sudden. That's very strange, but it's true. Kids, quit smoking, or never start. Trust me on this.
If you see Scott or Dale, online or in person, please give them your sympathy and kind wishes.
