8.17: And so...

It's 12:30AM and I finally finished my Limbs review. Glad to be done with it. Not sure what it is, but the random picks I get always trip me up and leave me absolutely blocked. It took me three weeks to write this and there's no way it should've. Once I had it down, it took less than a full hour to pull together.

Next: I've been trying to procure a copy of the new BLK JKS LP, but their label has been unresponsive. Strange considering I covered two or three releases for them this year. All decent to excellent reviews. The Subhumans reissues are still on tap and then The Beatles box set will be the killer. Other bands also await.

The weekend was good, but tiring. Friday night I wound up turning in around 10:30PM. The week caught up with me and I was down for the count within minutes. Saturday, I got to take a trip over to Siren Records and spent my gift certificate. It was an all-vinyl haul. As much as I love Siren, their CD prices are sort of unreasonable and I wanted to stretch my gift certificate as much as I could. I thought I did well:

The Kinks - Misfits
Camper Van Beethoven - Telephone Free Landslide Victory
Joe Jackson - Look Sharp!
Lou Reed - Rock N' Roll Animal
Animal Notes - Crack The Sky
Mirror/Dash - Electric Pen/Gum 7"

After that, I cleaned up the kitchen and mowed both lawns. Angela and Brian were coming over to babysit Bella while Jenniah and I took an overdue jaunt over to K.C.'s Alley for a few beers with Lauren, her boyfriend and some friends. It was nice to get out and be adult for a little while. You forget sometimes how important it is to spout off, say "fuck" a lot, laugh and surround yourself with friends. It was a good night.

Today, my mother came over and we spent the day at the pool. It was a perfect day for that and the water wasn't too cool. We got home around 4 after Bella fell asleep. She woke up around 6 or so and didn't go back down till about 10. In the meantime, Jenniah and I caught True Blood and Mad Men. And, now, I'm here, typing when I should be sleeping.

It's going to be a long week: Another stretch of days sans the third man with too many accounts to accommodate. What's the mantra?

Be happy you're employed; be happy you're employed…

life in general, music writing, work woes, bella
