"Great," you say. "More trees."

The outside Christmas tree I threatened my mother with has finally come to fruition! Sadly, we couldn't place the tree in our front yard because of neighborhood cats (the whole point is not to get birds brutally murdered). So we decided to place it in the backyard instead, where cats won't venture due to the dogs.

Except our large dog destroys nice things, so the tree ended up inside a small fenced area surrounding our deck.

Oh, well. Good intentions.

For the birdseed ornaments, I used The Mother Huddle's recipe and stole my mother's molds. (I often steal my family's personal belongings for crafting purposes. They don't even bat an eyelash.)

And yes, cranberries were strung... on thin wire. I read that birds accidentally snap string/thread/yarn/etc. with their beaks; as a result, the thread can end up in their tummies. (Which, again, not our mission.)

Dad said, "Wow, that is one tacky tree," and I said, "Thanks! It only took three days to put together!"

I wouldn't be surprised if the family was secretly glad this PRECIOUS LIFE-GIVING TREE is hidden away from neighbors and passing traffic. "Oh that girl," they'll say, "with the cranberries and wire, we'll never understand her-where are my molds?"
