Once again, I have skipped many days of posting thanks to a lack of noteworthy events. (Want to talk weather? Lawn mowers? The nature of glitter? Other mundane topics? Let's discuss!)
Sculpture: Our current project required us to pick a partner. I chose a random boy named Chris, because his foam sculpture turned out pretty well (plus he had the same "I don't know anyone here, who should I ask?" face that I was probably wearing). The assignment materials are chicken wire and brown kraft paper, and we had to choose an organism (fungi, cellular, etc.) and write a summary about it. (I volunteered to write it. I like to think writing is one thing I'm proficient in.) After several e-mail exchanges, we settled on the
green bomber sea worm. I'm not saying our combined sculpture power will leave viewers breathless, but I'm hoping it'll turn out better than my foam bed.
Feast your eyes on this little gem.
Communication Ethics: Test coming up. Do not want.
History of Motion Picture 1: Just took a test last Wednesday, and I'm pretty sure I aced it. We've watched some Chaplin and Metropolis (with a score by Giorgio Moroder). German expressionism + 80's power ballads = FTW!
Digital Film Making: Our first project is due Monday. I was supposed to capture the footage at school... but after waiting two hours for the TA to show up, I eventually texted Ms. D and asked if I could stop by the office and capture my footage there. I'm also editing at home instead of using the school's Avid program. (They won't even give an instruction sheet to help us load our footage from the camera to the machine. The TA gave a swift demonstration after we asked for one, instead of building it into the class. Part of me says whaaa? The other part says ninja please.)
On a lighter note, I saw Inception again, but dragged
puddingsworth and Uncle J with me. (They hadn't seen it yet!) Although I was nearly forced to confiscate Uncle J's phone. He was texting in the theater. (What would Shepherd Book have to say?) And while everyone was watching Friday's SPN, I watched Harry Brown. Michael Caine, you are the man.
Finally, some crafts for the show! (If I get in. I'm sending the application tomorrow.) Are these too much? Because glitter is my addiction right now, and I'd glitter a cat if I could get away with it.
Last night, Dad and I stayed up until 12:30-ish listening to a Rhapsody playlist of TV theme songs. He goes to bed about 8:00, see, but once he started talking and Googling all the old shows, we lost track of time. And we'd always try to match the theme to the show before checking the Rhapsody titles. We are geeks, and we are awesome.
