Hair has never been an important issue for Babe. It's been easy to sit in a barber's chair and let whoever stood behind him clip it down. They always got it right and Babe's not picky anyway, but he'll be damned if he's gonna let it grow out like some of the men on the island have. Sometimes they look so much like girls that Babe just can't tell and he wonders how that happened and when. Somethin' about the beetles is all he gets.
Yeah, well Babe ain't a beetle. Call him old-fashioned if you really want to, but his shock of red hair's getting ridiculous and it ain't that he cares who cuts his hair, but Liebgott, he'll know how to do it the way Babe's worn it since he's been in Easy.
"Got some time between eatin' to cut another head of hair, Joe?" he asks when he walks into the kitchen where he sees Liebgott. He doesn't ask about the late night arguments he can hear through the walls late at night. Not yet anyway.
