*sigh* i'm not the Birthday Girl anymore... today's just an ordinary day. *sigh, groan*
Last night, I headed over to Chris's place after work to get ready for dinner. he greeted me with a dozen red roses (my fav!) and a bag full of very thoughtful goodies -- a photo album of pics we've taken together, a book about Crohn's, a Jimi Hendrix CD ('cuz i have ZERO jimi in my collection), a big tub of red vines, and various other items... including some "happy birthday coupons". (*wink wink nudge nudge*)
Later,
halbe,
ddelapp, and Chris's friend, JD, and his wife, Misty, joined us for dinner and magic at the
Magic Castle. it was VERY good times. the food was great (if a bit expensive), and Chris got all sneeky on me by feigning a trip to the bathroom to tell our maitre'd that it was my birthday... just after we'd finished our entree, out came our waiter (in a grim reaper mask, no less) to present me with a slice o' cheesecake, complete with birthday candle & singing. it was a lovely touch. afterwards, we headed to the parlors for some magical entertainment, where we spotted:
Ice-T (he really does look like a bad ass) and
Steve Valentine from Crossing Jordan (tall, funny looking mo-fo). ok, I didn't remember his name, but i did recognize his face... thanks
IMDB!
Chris, Halbe, and I got pulled up as volunteers (me twice!) in the shows... embarrasing, but good times! a few tricks we could see the strings or the wires or what-have-you, but for the most part, i was thoroughly impressed. especially when the magician pulled my 6 of Hearts out of a frickin' Jalapeno!! a no-shit, honest-to-god, REAL jalapeno... and i was about 12 inches away from it, so i could see that yea, That was my card and yea, THAT was a real jalapeno. i was impressed.
good times.
