Yeah, so The Department of Homeland Stupidity wants to implement a procedure to put 'shocking' bracelets on you while you're on a plane... which also niftily track you while you're in the airport as a bonus.
According to
a story at the Washington Times - there is much interest in this 'taser bracelet' that can be used to paralyze & immobilize you a terrorist completely for several minutes.
But here,
this sums it up so much better than I ever could
http://tinyurl.com/54syza Don't forget to watch:
The Promotional Video from the company It gets really fascinating about 3:35 in.
So, are you one of the "many if not most of the passengers" that the company thinks would "rather fly on a plane wearing the EMD bracelet for added security"? Or do you maybe find the thought of being 'collared' and electronically tagged, monitored, and potentially shocked into paralysis by an over-zealous flight attendant just a bit terrifying?
Me personally, I wonder how long it would take the 'bad guys' to figure out how to broadcast their own signal... I mean, after all, to quote the promo video - the technology is only as good as the people using it... and in this case, it would seem incredibly easy to figure out how to 'unfasten' a bracelet, put it on a crew-member and zap them. Much easier than getting a weapon from the outside on board.
(I'm making this one public - feel free to link it far & wide or even repost it. Someone has to stop these morons at some point.)
