back in may, in a fell swoop of utter stupidity, one of the LJ higher-ups opted to delete en masse a number of LJs because of 'questionable' words listed in their interests section of the user profile - both communities and individuals... unfortunately, it was done without notice and without common sense... so things like a recovery group for victims of childhood incest got deleted because they listed 'child sexual abuse' in the interest section, even tho it was there b/c they were a support group...
it hit the fannish communities hardest, b/c of all of the slash fic - and caused a huge uproar and many people leaving LJ

LJ didn't exactly handle it well - and the cutesy nickname "strikethrough" was given to it by the protestors b/c of the fact that deleted or suspended journals show up on the Friend sections as ljuserx (if that worked) under normal circumstances.

Apparently, in the latest foofahrah, *1* person got suspended for a graphic sexual depiction of Snape/Harry Potter posted in public in the community that was the center of the last protests... but instead of the strikethru, now it shows simply as a bolded, unclickable link.

too much information? lol
