Spring 2014 dramas

Jun 05, 2014 04:26

I've gotten into the habit of posting Jdramas I'm watching at some point in the season. This time it's a bit late, but better late than never? Dramas are about halfway through already!

1. Yowakuttemo Kattemasu
2. Shinigami-kun
3. Bitter Blood
4. Smoking Gun
5. White Lab
6. MOZU

1. Yowakuttemo Kattemasu
Watching because of Nino. And Fukushi Sota. This drama isn't as heavy as I expected, and it's pretty good. It's moving too slowly, in my opinion. It has me asking questions like, "Can they really win??? When??? Against who???" Well, they have a few eps left to show us what they can do.

2. Shinigami-kun
I loved the first ep, because it unexpectedly made me cry. The other eps are so-so. Interesting, but not as fascinating as the first, in my opinion. The other stories seem a bit shallower, though the one with the Death Note-ish plot was a bit interesting.

3. Bitter Blood
I love this one! Sato Takeru's really good. This drama has silly moments, and it's a crime drama with a heart. There's a bit of family drama in there as well, as they show glimpses of Shimao's self-sacrifice for his son. There's a hint of romantic interest between Sahara and Maeda as well, but I wonder how that will turn out... It's a great mix of so many elements, I can't even tell what genre it's supposed to be in! (ok, I'm exaggerating, it's mainly a crime drama)

4. Smoking Gun
Didn't really expect to like this too much, but I ended up watching 5eps in a night! It's another crime drama, and the main characters are quite...unconventional. Katori Shingo does a great job in these types of roles, like MONSTERS. I want to find out about that case in the past! The amnesia element is interesting...even if it's a bit cliche.

5. White Lab
I've only watched one ep, but it looks promising. Another forensic crime drama with unusual main characters. Good thing I like crime dramas, because that seems to be the only thing the networks want to show this season!

6. MOZU
Another crime drama, this time involving a long-ago incident that may have something to do with a more current one. The main character's wife is a victim, and he suspects that there was more to her death, and their daughter's, than meets the eye. Terrorism seems to be the main theme. And cover-ups. There will be at least 2 seasons for this, so it's moving quite slowly. And it's confusing. Hopefully things will be clarified in the end.

7. Border (dropped)
Was interested in this drama because it's Oguri Shun! But the 1st ep was so boring, I never wanted to watch another one. I got annoyed with the looooooong pauses and the lack of interesting scenes. This is way too monotonous for me! I expected more, since the theme involved Shun being able to see the crime victims.

Actually, posting because I changed my LJ layout after soooo many years! I've been using the same layout for about...5years? or more?
