had an off day yesterday so i decided to go check out the One Life exhibition that was organised by World Vision. it all started out from meeting this girl who works there and then after a flurry of emails, i decided to go down to check it out and be inspired.
the whole tour was an audio-visual display where you walk alone through the different sections of pictures with a headset. it brings you through the lives of a HIV patient and you become that person for a short period of time.
i followed the journey of Srey Mon, a Cambodian HIV patient who was sold off to a brothel when she was a child and had to service customers every night.
then came the moment of truth where i had to step up to the "doctor"'s window in the clinic to find out if i'm HIV positive or not. as i stepped up to the window, i remembered my heart was beating quite hard. i can imagine how worse it must have felt for Srey Mon.
next the "doctor" branded me with a "plus" sign, an indication that i was HIV positive. i looked at it in disbelief, believing that i was Srey Mon for a good 5 seconds. how that sign seared on my hand.
and as i turned away around the corner, i had a choice to step into the "Reflection" area or the chapel. i chose the latter.
photos were mounted on the walls, indicating the faces of those branded as HIV positive. in front of me stood a cross and these words from Matthew 25: 37-40
37"Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'
40"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'
i knew those words were for me and i sat there and made a covenant with my Almighty.
