Saturday was my first triathlon. Official results should be up no later than tomorrow but I've heard from one of the race directors that the timing company had some trouble with the batteries in some of their mats and as a result, we won't be able to get all the splits. That really sucks. I'm pretty sure I had a great bike time (well, great for me) but now, I'll never know for sure.
It was a good experience overall. My mom asked if it was "fun" because "what's the point if you didn't have fun?" But it's got nothing to do with fun. "Rewarding" is the best description. It's good for my health, I get a great sense accomplishment, it challenges my mind - makes me a stronger person, mentally and physically. That's worth the fleeting feelings of weak legs after mashing up a hill on the bike, the slight breathing troubles at the start of the run, the pains beneath my bottom ribs during the last mile, and all the days of saying "I don't want to train today" as I pulled on my gear and headed out the door.
Pics or it didn't happen?
