Yesterday was a swirling white mess of a blizzard, and today all that snow's been whipped into peaks and ridges by the bitterly, cruelly cold wind. It's -33C and sunny, with a windchill of -42C. When I land in Mexico tomorrow evening we'll experience a 60C change in the weather. I'm okay with that.
I'm always amazed when I see birds outside when its this cold. They're tiny and so fluffy, and I want to invite them inside so that they can warm up their frosty little toes, and I'd offer them some bread, or maybe the peanuts I have in the cupboard that I whip out when I make pad thai. Poor little sparrows and chickadees, magpies and bluejays and pigeons...
