Touchpads are a bit hard to get used to and not good for some tasks - I suggest you buy a USB mouse, you'll probably find it a lot easier to use (personally for my laptop I find a trackerball [like an upside-down mouse easier, but other people tend not to get on so well with it]).
If it's an Apple Laptop you will probably want to check compatibility before you buy it, or pop along to an Apple store. Otherwise, just find one that feels comfortable in your hand (if you can try them).
I didn't notice you online, or I would have said "Hi!" too, but thank you... :-)

I tried one recently and, even on a 27 inch screen(is that not offensively large? *g*) I didn't feel comfortable. I like my mouse darnit.
Ahhh...Zoetrope, I remember thee well. Had I the energy and the brain matter left, I'd be patronizing it more. Or at all. Good luck with your story, hon!

27"?! Wow. That is rather offensive... ! But in a good way. I'm going to get a mouse the next time I get paid. I keep bumping it and it does weird things.
And thanks for the good story vibes - I feel really good about this one. It's a retelling of 'Diamonds and Toads' and I quite like it. It sounds narcissistic to say, but I do. :)
