Officially, they don't know. Unofficially, folks are thinking lightening strikes at the main power lines.

Wow, that must be really frustrating. I hope it doesn't happen again anytime soon! Island-wide?! O.o

There aren't a whole lot of alternatives when it comes to powering an island, and it's not like we can bring in power from neighboring states. :-\

I guess I'm used to multiple power grids and stations. If one goes out, its dedicated area goes dark, but the rest are still good to go. A whole island boggles the mind. It's a bit difficult for me to think in terms of entire islands! I suppose that labels me as a solid...er... *insert Hawaiian name for tourists from the mainland*
