the forbidden fruit

Jan 18, 2006 09:11

I've had ideas swimming in my head yet due to my procrastination, I've forgotten most of them. Interestingly enough, my notepad still contains scraps of what I've noted down from my dream, at least 2 nights ago. Here ( Read more... )

dreams, films, questions, tv, remerciement, sexualité, amis

is there non-smooth/rough jazz? o_O i find genres quite dizzying heh.

uh actually i think the stuff i like pretty much coresspond to your dad's, minus heavy/punk metal, electronica and pop. d=

but yea, i don't think a classical music-listening person would be able to stomach loud music. your poor ears!

wait, were they thinking bout harmless eat and drink, chit chat parties or the loud music thumping, booze-guzzling, dirty-dancing parties? gee! and do you actually want to be an ambassador?

no no, lazy as in she didn't do as well as she was capable of in school. and the whole asian traditional idea of good careers - doctors, lawyers, engineers. sheesh! it's a different world out there. it's so saturated with doctors and lawyers. haha and mama (my tutor) once joked that in most developing countries, they're pretty much done with major building up so you don't need that many engineers. o_O

yay for the renaissance kids! haha. i want to be a renaissance fish. my interests are somewhat like that, but i'm a little too lazy to really achieve that. d= what else do you like? you know, i actually find physics interesting - i just dislike most of what we had to learn in school! haha.

Smooth jazz is a subgenre of jazz. It's not really like mainstream jazz, but instrumental music with instruments typically used in jazz - especially the saxophone.

I don't know what they are thinking, but I'm thinking of the dirty-dancing type, and I hate those. No, I don't want to be an ambassador. That's my dad's idea. He thinks I'll make a good politician or lawyer.

I know! Doctor-saturation is good, because they save lives, but I don't know why some careers, like lawyers, are so highly rated. Policemen, for example, aren't one of those "good" careers, but they risk their lives to protect us. Same with firemen. Shouldn't courage be rated above cleverness?

I find some physics interesting as well. I remember talking to someone who was in a US high school, and he said that taking physics made you a social outcast. But as for me, if someone calls me a geek, I take it as a compliment. :]

I like writing, photography, botany, paleontology, zoology, some history (esp. mediaeval), ships/sailing, languages...Not to brag, but I'm quite good at art, though I'm not too interested. I can't think of anything else at the moment.

Oh, a fellow Renaissanser! Haha. I expected as much from an encyclopedia-lover. So what do you like?

i'm not that much into smooth jazz, but i have other stuff that you might be interested in. i'll send you some next time! d=

my father wanted to be politician and keeps trying to get me into that field too. sheesh. would they let you do what you want though?

yea! all professions should receive respect. bleah. geek is good. it's usually the geeks who get ahead in the end too! hey you know so much. i'm jealous. do you read up on them much too? like botany and paleontology?

hmmm off the top of my head... i find pure maths quite fascinating. my physics tutor told me bout the chaos theory too and i'd wanted to research on it, had i joined the Science Council in jc. i love languages and literature - no surprise there. heh i love looking for dictionaries. they're very personal to me. i would like to learn more about law, philosophy, computer science, psychology, photography, astrology, cosmetology, archaeology, architecture... i can't think anymore. hehe.

Sure, I'd like to hear the music you like!

Oh, they'll let me do what I want, to a certain extent. They can't force me to do something I don't like, since I'll probably do badly.

I'm certain you know a lot about other things! As for me, I tend to read non-fiction more than fiction. I'm very picky about fiction, and since I must have something to read while commuting, I usually wander around the non-fic area, and pick anything that I find interesting.

Wow, pure maths? I've heard of chaos theory; it's one of those nonlinear systems, isn't it? Too many variables, unable to predict outcome...I have no idea how nonlinear works.

Hehe, dictionaries...I'm too lazy to use the book versions.

You have more interests than I do! Cosmetology? That seems so out of place with the rest. 0_o

gee at least your parents are wise enough to realize they can't force you into something. mine couldn't quite be bothered. sheesh.

i definitely read more fiction than non-fiction. the only sort of non-fiction i'll read regularly is magazines - RD and Nat Geo. I know there are lots of interesting non-fiction material out there, and I do try but they rarely sustain my interest long enough! *sigh*

nonlinear? okay i've not heard that far. whatever i knew was presented to me in layman terms. d= as for the maths, i just like to know how the ideas came about, or how solutions were derived. the latter is cuz my memory is so bad! there was one test where i forgot the formula and spent half an hour trying to work it out! haha. cosmetology (this isn't quite the word actually, cuz i'm referring to a broader perspective of things) is odd, i know. just that when you think there are so many products, so many different methods and all, i just wonder how they fit together!

oh, i'm lazy to use a physical dictionary for the sake of looking up a word too. but i like to flip through a dictionary, cuz you don't know what new words you'll stumble upon! d=

Gasp, your parents are actually forcing you? To do what? How beastly! I thought that it was one of those things they say but you can ignore.

I read RD and Nat Geo too! :] For non-fic, I supposed it depends on the author and the layout of the book. I wouldn't read something like a textbook for fun. For nature topics, for example, I like the encyclopedia-style books, with a lot of pictures! "Idiots's Guide To..." and "...For Dummies" are also my favourites (light but informative). :]

I don't know where to draw the line between layman and not. Oh well, I have to hand it to you. I'm hopeless at deriving things, or even integrating.

I'm sure cosmetology can be helpful. But as long as my face is zit-free, I don't really care about further "beautifying". :]

Haha, I tried to read a dictionary once, and gave up around the third page.

they forced me into science, for one thing. that was in jc. they are still trying to here, but since it's only a transfer college, they haven't interfered too much. yet.

haha you know, when i first got my books for french end of p6, i took the dictionary and translated almost the entire first chapter. x= textbooks in primary school were fun to read... def not for sec though. haven't really looked at the uni ones. o_O

haha maybe if you had a dictionarywith lots of illustrations, it'll make you more interested!
