It was beautiful; the imagery was fantastic. You were able to weave worlds so well in this ficlet, especially when it came to fitting the feverish daze Ryou was in. The Bakura = Amane/Amane = Bakura bit was an interesting, and creative addition that fits so well with Ryou's character, and not just because he's ill. With him, the melding of who is who would be so confusing, I'm not surprised that he would begin to see Amane in Bakura, and vice versus.
You made Amane Ryou's twin? That's something I've never seen before, but I liked it in this fic. Canon-wise (or, at least, in the Gospel of Truth -- the official YGO handguide by Takahashi), Ryou's sister and mother are described as dead from an accident. It was never specified, but I believe in one interview, Takahashi stated that Ryou's mother and sister died in a car crash. +10 points for getting that with Amane, but the bit with Ryou's mother threw me off. I say that, however, only because I'm a self-titled Bakurae elitist. XD Still, the twin part was another great dynamic you used to work with Ryou's character.
The psychology bit... Ooooh, how I loved it. Very well played, especially the bit with the pills. Though we never know if Ryou actually had therepy of some sort, it wouldn't be surprising if he did. Poor kid is more fucked up than any of the cast members, excluding, perhaps, Malik. Here, you used that concept veeeery well, and with everything else you had in this, it was a perfect addition.
Like in a song, you have the melodies and the harmonies, blending together to bring a pleasure to our ears without overwhelming us with sound. Were your story a song, it would be a Mozart. The main theme and smaller motifs blended so well, it was a beauty to read.
And now... I'm done. I tend to ramble when tired. Even more so, when I read a good fic. Definitely going in my memories. ♥

I'm very glad you liked this. It was a lot of fun to write but as soon as you gave the prompt of 'floor,' I knew where I was going to take it. Heh. I'm very glad the idea of Bakura and Amane beign confused worked. I've always been facinated at the patterns that Takahashi weaves when it comes to siblings. It seems that often you get the same patterns you get with Yami/Hikiari's. Seto does anything neccesary to protect Mokuba. Odion(Rashid) does what he can to protect Malik. Joey goes into the duel to help his sister regain her eyesight. All through it we see a sibling, generally the older, working to protect the younger. In the case of the German Brothers, the fact the older does not do this is pained in a very bad light, which kinda works. With Seto his love of Mokuba is shown as hsi main 'light.' His redeaming quality. I've been interested, ever since I learned about Amane, in the idea that this might be true for Ryou and his sister. When she died he is alone with his sprit Yami. Bakura. I saw a good oportunity to play with this idea here and it was great fun. I made Amane Ryou's younger twin because that's what I read in Wikipedia. Which just goes to show how far you can trust that, sometimes. In trught I'd rather she was his older twin sister, but so it goes. I had heard his mother had died in a car crash with his sister in another fanfic, but I didn't know whether to trust that so I didn't go with it. Which is both a shame and a good thing, becaus I think the lack of a motherfigure, or rather Amane's replacement as a mother figure, would have changed this fic, or at least it's credulity a lot. Oh well. I think that Bakura must have gone to a psychiatrist at some point, if only for grief councelling. And I think there's a high liklyhood that they would have pickd up on at least some of Ryou's problems. I have to say, at the risk of sounding terribly arrgant, that I was VERY chuffed with the line... "Insecure, avoidant, antisocial, a little paranoid… mostly schizophrenic, in desperate need of help, preferably professional, possibly padded." If you could make me a Ryou icon out of that, especially the last part, I would be eternally greatful! At any rate if there's any 'tune' behind this it's probably my Yu-Gi-Oh sound track, which only contains four songs at present, and which I listend to none stop whilst workong on this.
