(no subject)
what an interesting 30 minutes. i went to a horrible gay bar in williamsburg with alex and upon arrival back in manhatten, i find the promised land of parking spots on 102nd and broadway valid until friday morning. i get out and realize its actually a tow zone, but the golden fucking ticket of tow zones: they are filming a law and order episode and will move my car to a VALID spot on thursday morning at 5 am! so this is a win-win situation: either i get up and move it on thursday quickly seducing black cop on my way to starbucks, or i just let it get towed to a LEGAL spot without charge in the name of my favourite telivision show.
i then show alex my jewed out apartment and walk him home. i'm a bit weary of the solo return voyage, as alex lives on the wrong side of the tracks (i.e. east of amsterdam). on the way back i cross to the other side of 107th street to let a bum dig through garbage in peaceful solitude, and then i turn down amsterdam. i walk past a bar (apparently walking like an asshole), and get accosted by a white guy in one of those kwanzaa-style hats, asking me what i've done for the ozone layer lately. i lay it out for him: fuel efficient car, voting democrat, recycling, speaking german, etc.
1 block later. as some may now, my neighbourhood is rich in youth hostels, and these three Mancs ask me in thick english accents if i know where ding-dong is. (2 of the 3 were skinheads at least in hair length so i zipped up my ben sherman jacket over my star of david necklace). i reply to the drunkards that i have no idea, to which the drunkest asks me to do something i couldn't have possibly heard correctly with his ding-dong. i really wanted to capitulate but i decided to be a good jew-in-training and get home early as i have an appt. to sign up for volunteering at the jewish home and hospital tomorrow morning. anyway i should get to bed.

2. afternoon spent at JCC in harrison (conversion appt next friday)
3. took a series of 5 parkways home from westchester county (first to guess the 5 gets an israeli flag card in the mail with a $5 dunkin donuts gift certificate)
