also, I live in SC (and the east bay), and so far as I can tell (I don't go there), UCSC seems like a great place. I'm biased, but Santa Cruz is a really good college town; not so large as to be hectic but still big enough that there's always something to do.

Do you totally love the Board Walk?
And Marini's?
I'm not gonna lie...Those were major bonuses for selecting UCSC. :-)

The Boardwalk is fun, way better in my opinion than most other amusement parks. And Marini's... Yuuuuum. The Place You Have To Go, though, is The Saturn Cafe. It's downtown at the end of Pacific Avenue past the bus station where Pacific intersects Laurel. You can't miss it. It's open at odd hours and has incredible incredible food and a great jukebox. It's good for late nights. The best ice cream is at Marianne's, on Ocean Street. These things are important to know.
