Spoilers for Season 6 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and “Depths”

After the conversation between Conner and M’gann, all I’m seeing is parallels between their relationship and Willow and Tara’s.

For those of you who haven’t watched Buffy, Willow started misusing her powers as a witch. When she and Tara start arguing about Willow’s misuse of magic, she puts a spell on Tara, making her forget about the argument entirely. Tara discovers this violation of her mind and, horrified, she leaves Willow.

What I would love to see is one of two scenarios paralleling events in Season 6 of Buffy.

Scenario #1: A “Tabula Rasa” scenario. Perhaps someone finds out about M’gann’s violations and threatens to tell the League, so she tries to make them forget the event. In her panic, her control slips and the entire team is affected, including herself (because they we mindlinked? idk). Also, they forget everything, about themselves, superheroes, and the mission at hand. BASICALLY, fun rompy amnesia episode, with a huge side of angst. When everything is cleared up, the team realizes what’s been going on with M’gann and how much help she needs.

Scenario #2: (triggers for character death) M’gann has realized how dangerous her powers are and has been worked on reining them in. She and Conner make amends and eventually get back together. AND THEN HE DIES. It is sudden and horrible and it pushes M’gann over the edge, triggering full-on Dark!M’gann. Writer-anon’s choice on the ending, whether Conner is restored to life or you make me cry buckets. Although nothing can make me cry as much as Tara’s death. (Yes, you can take that as a challenge, angst-monsters.)

It would help if you’ve seen Season 6 of Buffy, but it’s not entirely necessary. Just know that if you reference certain Willow/Tara scenes you are guaranteed to make me cry.

Ships: Preferably gen or canon background ships, Supermartian.

Omg, this needs filling. I've noticed the parallels before, but didn't really see the fic. I think I'm going to write this now. It would take me forever with school, but it needs writing. Artemis in a Xander-ish role... Interesting. Very interesting thoughts.

OP here! I'd nearly forgotten about this prompt, but as soon as I saw this pop up in my email notifications I felt a renewed fondness for the idea. I'd love you to the ends of the earth if you ended up filling it. (No pressure, I get how school can be.)

I've been thinking about it in math, and I'm thinking of doing both the Tabula Rasa and the crazy!world-destroying!bits as a combination thing. The TR will definitely be filled, the rest I'll try for.
