Oh my god, now this is one epic prompt. I can already see the inner turmoil Barry will have to face when choosing. Ah, angst, why am I addicted to you?

Anway, seconded by the power of infinity!

Oh, fuck. I see that being especially difficult because each one would want him to save the other.

And Iris would be begging Barry to let her go, because Wally's practically a son to her and she couldn't live knowing that he'd died in her place.

And vice-versa. Wally would feel the same way, as she's practically like a mother to him (or better than his mother, depending on canon stuff) and he would wallow in despair if he lost her. Reading this, I can also see him being like "Aunt Iris and Uncle Barry don't need me; they can have their own children and be happy. I can't let that happiness be ruined." Or something like that.

Oh god, this needs to be filled soon.

Even though it's not a perfect fit, this reminds me of that short story, "The Lady, or The Tiger?" where the princess has to choose between allowing the man she loves to be married to another woman, or to allow him to be killed by a tiger. It ends ambiguously, left up to the reader to decide which the princess chose; I think it would be fantastic if the filler of this prompt did the same for the Flash, and let us try to figure out the outcome.

Then what would be the point of an actual story? I mean, if we tried to guess the outcome, then we might as well imagine the whole fill. Wouldn't it be more interesting if the filler showed us what would happen if he tried and save either? That way, we could see the repercussions of the Flash's decision and decide which one we like better. And, if we don't like the repercussions, then we could imagine our own afterwards. That way, everyone could get what they want, I guess.

They could show the Flash debating that with himself, with what would happen afterwards for which he chose to save. That way we could see the two sides without the filler having to write two separate scenarios, and give depth to the struggle he's facing. (Along the lines of, "If I saved Iris, she'd never forgive me for letting Wally die. Even if she was still alive, she wouldn't want to be my wife anymore.")

Potential filler has a question:

do you have any squicks? I have a somewhat long and complicated way to resolve the issue (with a fairly happy ending!), but I need to know if you have any squicks before I get started. Or any Do Not Wants.
