Prompt Post - Part Ten

I am REALLY, REALLY SORRY about taking so long, guys, and about not being around much recently. I've been busier than I have in a while, and it just kept slipping my mind between uni applications and volunteering and all sorts- for some reason I thought we were much further off a new post.

If there is anything I haven't responded to, as of now, I'm ( Read more... )

Under The Single, Silver Moon anonymous April 30 2012, 01:32:37 UTC
It was one of those rare nights where the team did not have a mission, training, or anything to do but homework, chores, or if they so desired patrol with their mentors. Everyone had gone home to do their perferred (or needed) activity.

For M'gann, that was to look up at the clear night sky.

It was something she had never really done on Mars. Besides living in caves, the Martian atmosphere was constantly swirling with dust storms. The first time she had seen the sky like this was on her journey to Earth. She had seen pictures of the stars and moons on Mars that were taken through special telescopes, but they could not compare to seeing it in person. The twinkling lights dazzled her eyes. And that was not the best part.

Pictures that included Phobos and Deimos showed lumpy, irregular tiny things for moons. They were weird and odd, and the only satellites visable (for what it was worth) from Mars.

Here, when the skies were clear, the perfectly round dime-sized moon hung in the sky.

Suddenly, she saw a shadow over the moonlite grass.

"M'gann, it's cold out. I thought you would need a blanket." Conner held out the blue cloth with a sheepish grin, as if he was not quite sure if a Martian who was weak to heat would need a blanket.

M'gann smiled, and motioned for him to sit down next to her. She spread the blanket over both of their laps, and looked at her boyfriend.

"I was just looking at the sky. Isn't it amazing?" she said.

Comfortable silence descended as she stared at the twinkling lights. Conner was looking at her. Then he cleared his throat and said, "Do you want the moon?"

M'gann giggled. "Yes Conner, I want the moon."

He smiled, and stood up, making a reaching motion. "Just say the word and I'll fly right up and carry it down."

M'gann gave him a melancholy look. "You can't fly." Then she smiled. "But I can fly you there; I'll be there to fly you up, always."

Before she knew it, M'gann was firmly embraced in Conner's arms. "Thank you. For being there for me, always, like the moon."

M'gann gave a small frown. "But once every 28 days, you can't see the moon."

"That doesn't mean it's not there. It's just hiding behind the Earth's shadow. Even when you think it's gone, it'll come back a surprise you."

M'gann gave Conner a chaste kiss at those words. "Thank you, Conner. For being there even when I think you won't be. Like the moon."

He looked her right in the eyes, and said, "Like I could ever stay away from you. I love you, M'gann, no matter what you look like."

M'gann hugged him all the tighter.

O-oh, man. The gentle reassurances and optimism. I flat out lost it at "Even when you think it's gone, it'll come back to surprise you," but in the best possible way.

Thank you, anon. Thank you, thank you. I needed warm fuzzies very badly, and you delivered beautifully.

OP here

OMG, I didn't think anyone would actually fill this especially after S2! *cries* Thank you so much! It was beautiful! Sorry I can't give more worthy praise other than that, but I'm struggling really hard not to ASDFGHJKL;--oh snap, it came it out anyway.

I love you anon! =*0*=
