I am REALLY, REALLY SORRY about taking so long, guys, and about not being around much recently. I've been busier than I have in a while, and it just kept slipping my mind between uni applications and volunteering and all sorts- for some reason I thought we were much further off a new post.

Penny spotted Wally from across the room, flushed, then looked away. And then berated herself for flushing at all, he hadn't even been looking and besides they'd been best friends for years, there was no reason to get all fluttery and girly now
But the fact was, well, she was. Girly. And fluttery. Penny had completely loathed puberty. She was well educated on the subject, thanks to a very scarring talk (Thanks, Batman! Exactly what I wanted for my tenth birthday! Glad you noticed!) but that didn't mean it hadn't been weird. Also she'd been suspended from crime fighting. Bruce had, of course, offered a lame excuse, but the real reason was clear. Stupid overprotective Bats.
And, well, Wally.
Just... just Wally.
Penny could barely stand to look at him any more.
He was always flirting. That was her main problem. She'd be at least seventeen percent more comfortable if he stopped flirting. M'gann was way more girly, and pretty, and it was just so debilitating. Why would he like his tomboy best friend?
Which, she knew, was idiotic. She had self esteem, and she was pretty.
But obviously not Wally's type.
Or else...
Well, it was Valentine's day.
And the fact was, Penny had never been much of a damsel, in distress or otherwise.
She walked casually across the room. ″Hey, KF?″ She asked, hoping her nerves didn't show.
Wally turned to her. ″Yeah, Rob?″
This... this was it.
Penny stood on her tiptoes and kissed him.
His lips were stiff with surprise, but soon he melted into the kiss. It wasn't very deep, or very long. It was just a chaste kiss. But it was the most amazing feeling in the world.
Penny broke away with a breathless giggle. ″Be my boyfriend?″
″That was sudden.″ Wally looked a bit taken aback, and all Penny's doubts rushed back.
Wally evidently caught this change in mood, and swept her into a hug. ″Penny... Of course.″
Penny's lips hurt from smiling so wide. ″Didn't you like M'gann?″
Wally laughed. ″Maybe a little. But I've always liked you more, Pen.″
″Kiss me?″
″Of course.″
Their second kiss was perhaps even better than their first.
