I am REALLY, REALLY SORRY about taking so long, guys, and about not being around much recently. I've been busier than I have in a while, and it just kept slipping my mind between uni applications and volunteering and all sorts- for some reason I thought we were much further off a new post.

If there is anything I haven't responded to, as of now, I'm ( Read more... )

To Become a Heroine 1 athallie April 10 2012, 04:14:12 UTC
It was an ordinary night. Cissie King-Jones and Bernell Jones were already getting ready for bed. He was just tucking her in when somebody attacked. It was a man in black. He took her father away from her and sent him falling outside her window. Cissie became scared. Their home, her room, was in the higher part of the apartment building. Her father will die.

She tried to go after him - to try save him. But it was already too late and she was looking down her window sill, waiting for her father to hit the pavement.

Just then, somebody helped him. An arrow hit the ground first. It exploded into something that looked like foams that expanded higher and higher and covered the hard, unforgiving pavement. The foam cushioned her father's fall. He was alive. He was safe.

Cissie smiled. Green Arrow was somewhere near and saved her father. She looked around and saw two figures standing proudly before the moon. A man and a young girl dressed in green. Both wielded a bow - archers. So it was Green Arrow who helped them and... his new sidekick?

She witnessed their fight against the black spider like man and was amazed by the female crime fighter. She hadn't seen her before and she wasn't even featured in the news. But she was amazing. She was a girl but she fights bad guys and shoots arrows perfectly. She was really cool and amazing. Cissie King-Jones wanted to grow up just like her.

The next day, at school, she told her classmates everything. She told them how her father was attacked and saved. She even told them about Green Arrow's new sidekick and her dream to become a crime fighting archer just like her.

Her classmates laughed, especially the boys. They said her story was stupid. Green Arrow's only sidekick was Speedy and Speedy was a boy. Star City's hero would never take a girl as a sidekick. In fact, there were no girl sidekicks anywhere! Robin, Kid Flash, Aqualad, Speedy - They were all boys not girls. Cissie huffed and yelled "What about Rocket?!". They told her that she doesn't count.

Cissie went home angry after school. Everybody made fun of her. They teased her about making things up and how she could never be a hero because she was a girl. She was weak. She can never fight bad guys or shoot arrows.

Bernell saw his daughter and wiped away her tears. He held her close and whispered soothing words at her. When she finally calmed down, he smiled.

"You're a very brave girl for wanting to become a hero."

Cissie smiled back. "That's because I want to help people! I want to save others like how Green Arrow and the girl archer saved you too!" she told him proudly.

Her father ruffled her hair affectionately. "Me having a superheroine as a daughter? That will be the greatest moment in my life."

The next day, she ignored her classmates. She didn't care about what they think or say. Her father believed in her. That was all that mattered.

After school, Bernell took her somewhere as a surprise. Cissie became filled with joy when he took her to an archery school. He had enrolled her there to learn. It was the best day ever.
