It was a massacre.
Unlike the anger that normally rolled off of him when they sparred to let off steam Wally hesitated at every turn. He took the hits, but didn’t dish any out. He seemed off, not all there. He was distant and unresponsive when she teased and egged him on. There was such a lack of emotions that it scared her.
“What’s wrong with you?” She eventually asked.
“Nothing is wrong with me.” Wally snapped.
The spark of pure fury that smoldered in his eyes at her comment had Artemis stepping back to peer at him. Green eyes glared at him and suddenly he was on her. She nearly didn’t have time to dodge and she suspected that he had used his speed the tiniest bit. A lower sweep at her legs had her staggering. A palm thrown out against her shoulder left her even more unbalanced and the kick following it had her on her ass looking up at a fist inches from her face.
She stared at it in shocked silence. Wally was breathing hard through his nose as the fist shook. Taking a careful step back Wally let the hand fall to his side, glare still firmly in place, before abruptly turning and leaving her there on the ground.
Not even an hour later Artemis found Wally in the living room among their friends animatedly telling them about how him and a few friends of his from school managed to get the numbers of some hot blondes.
It stung a little.
Not that she’d ever admit it to anyone.
