Here Today, Flash Tomorrow 2/6 katty008 February 16 2012, 00:16:21 UTC
Wednesday afternoon Barry took the bus home with Iris. He loved hanging out at Iris's house. Her mother Nadine was sweet, kind, and everything a kid could want in a mother, and her father Ira was one of the funniest men Barry knew.

“Hello Allen.”

Which was why it really was too bad that her little brother was an asshole.

“Hello Rudolph,” Barry greeted without looking up from the book he had been assigned in Literature. Iris was in the bathroom, and Barry was on the couch in the West's living room getting some homework done.

Rudolph made a face. Well if he wasn't going to refer to him by his first name, Barry sure as hell wasn't going to call him Rudy. “Where's my sister? Did you stash her body somewhere?”

Barry turned a page. “If you would bother to look, you would notice that your parents are talking in the kitchen and that the bathroom is occupied.”

Rudolph plucked the book from Barry's hand and tossed it away, losing his place. He leaned over, getting in Barry's face. “One day you're gonna crack, Allen,” he accused lowly. “One day you're gonna show the world that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. I just hope my stupid sister has come to her senses by then and you kill some bitch who deserves it instead.”

Barry's eyes narrowed and his countenance hardened. “You keep going on like that, the only thing that's going to crack is your big red nose, Rudolph.”

The sound of the toilet flushing came from the closed bathroom door, followed by the sound of running water. Rudolph quickly backed away. “I'm watching you,” he said in parting, then ran up the stairs.

Barry sighed and retrieved his book, flipping through the pages trying to find his spot. Iris came out of the bathroom smiling, but it fell as soon as she saw Barry. “What's wrong Barry?”

Barry put on his own smile for her. “Nothing Iris. How much time 'till we go to your aunt and uncle's? 'Cause I've kind of got this assignment due tomorrow...”

Iris rolled her eyes. “An hour, and yes, I'll help you.”

“You're a lifesaver Iris. Throw big science-y terms at me any day, but Shakespearean English is beyond me.”
