There were four of them now. That fact didn’t bother Dick so much as that it took this longer for Dick to figure out what exactly that entailed.

As he determinedly tried to get on file the latest escapades of Batman and Robin, he could help but to be mildly distracted by the…sound pollution contaminating the cave.

Tim’s little sounds a frustration from Stephanie’s illogical rebuttal over my little pony seemed to be amplified by the cave somehow. They were only getting worse by her wolfish grin (as wolfish as a seven year old can get) and refusal to let Tim finish his point, you could set you clock by them.

The thud of metal too wood was a commentated by grunts and the sound of flesh hitting leather.

The teenager was sure that this was going to be one of those days Bruce warned him about when he learned his guardian’s secret and was adamant about helping him. Batman said there would be days that would grate at his soul.

He believed that this had to be one of those days. Well believed that is until he had an idea of course.

Dick’s vision trailed to the linear standing youths before him. Three of which were dressed in some variation of a Robin uniform. Jason is his older red and black design, Tim in an early green, red, yellow model with shorts, and Stephanie in a female version of Tim’s no doubt sown by Alfred.

The expectation, Cass, was sporting a black jumper with ebony cowl. The cowl it self was unusual in that the eyes and mouth were sown up.

As Rob- their big brother it was his duty to make sure they were prepared for their family’s life style and if it kept them busy while he got some work done…

“All right runts! You say you want to be boy wonders,” Dick took a pause in his pacing and winked over to the girls “girl wonders, and uh bats?”

Greeted by nods he continued” Today you will be taught the most important part of being a bat/bird-“

“Detective wor-,” Tim finished.

“Intimidation,” Jason interrupted.

“How to possible hide your identity though flimsy pieces of cloth that barely cover your face,” The newest bird chirped.

The female Bat hurled a bat-ranged at a near by practice dummy.

“No, no, no, and no. Most important might have been a bit of an exaggeration, but it is important to know when you’re climbing buildings or scaling ledges with your bare hands.” He pauses for dramatic effect. Oh how he loved to be the center of attention” you’re going spelunking!”

“…and you’re going to show us how to do that, right,” Steph said testing the waters just a little bit.

“Of-course I am!” like the well trained actor he was he kept his pseudo-cheery attitude.

‘Curses, I’m foiled by logic yet again!’

Three and a half hours later the gaggle of children were stationed on the hard wood floors of Wayne manor’s foyer, stripped of their uniforms, sopping wet.

“So, how we gonna to tell Bruce that he has two indoor pools instead of one now?” Stephanie probed the oldest from under her towel. She sat as the rest of them did, on top of a nest of towels.

“I don’t know,” Dick admit, the eye not covered by his towel wandered to the extravagant clock mounted above Cass’s head.

“Bruce is going to be home soon and for once I got nothing,” Tim exhaled.

The quiet clacking of tasteful leather against wood acquitted them from their panic attack.

“Children, I wish to inform you that Master Bruce is currently stuck in traffic and due to arrive in thirty minutes. If I may be as bold as to subjects that in that time you all would benefit greatly from getting your account on your excretion in the cave this afternoon in order,” The Wayne family’s beloved butler stiffed. “Also Miss Stephanie, Police commissioner Gordon is on the other line for you.”

As Stephanie followed Alfred out Jason looked anxiously around.

“Ok, I say we set some you else up to take the fall. I’m not getting time for this.”

Tim was appalled; Jay had done a lot of shady, borderline illegal things, but this was just reprehensible even for him.” What are you talking about? How are we going to set someone up if we’re all here-“Realization all too quickly dawned on the last remaining Drake’s face.

Cass rapidly threw her had back and forth with annulments.

“Look, I don’t wanna do this any more than you guys, but we really screwed up this time. If you think about it, it makes sense. She wouldn’t get any much trouble, it not like she lives here or nothn’. It was technically her fault anyways.”

“Just like it’s technically all our fault too!”

Tim looked to his eldest brother for back up, and saw him conversing with his battling desires. Dick mewled of his brother’s desperate proposition. It made sense that Jason would even consider doing something so awful to spare his own hind. He was on probation after that whole ‘Earth day: be green charity disaster’, heavy on the dis. Dick was pretty sure they broke a couple of minor laws. Point is one more slip up and Jason was going to Etiquette School.

Jay did have a point, it not like she’d get in too much trouble…”Dick!” Tim’s panicked voice brought him out of his disturbing thoughts.

“Uh, right!” the teen then lowered his voice and motioned his siblings closer,” Here’s what we’re gonna do, when Steph comes back we’re going to do the adult thing here.”

Not to long afterwards Robin finds himself shoulder to should in a still wet uniform with his protégés in the west wing hallways secret compartment.

“Thank you for standing up for me, Tim.” Stephanie sealed her gratitude with a kiss to Tim’s cheek.

Tim couldn’t very well form a single sentence after that.

In the dim light, provided by his belt’s glow sticks, Robin’s white lens land on the eyes of his birds and sees… Tim flustered, Jason upset, Steph pleased, Cass… she was still a hard one.
