Unlike his brothers Dick didn’t know how to act around his new sister. She was silent and mysterious. Well, not so much mysterious because Bruce saw it fit to keep files on everybody, even his own family members, especially his own family members. Expect Alfred because if Alfred goes rouge there is no hope for them, that and he doubted even Bruce knew enough about his past to make a useful file.

So the information was available he just wouldn’t read it out of courtesy for her. Dick could say with ninety six percent certainly that the other boys in the manor have not as well.

That’s why Dick sought out to bond with his little sister, but by what means he had no idea.

Cass was, by all extensions of the word, an all around daddy’s girl. By that fact all Dick had to do was think of the things Bruce and Cass did in their ‘father daughter time’, which like most of his time spent with his children, heavily training related.

Dick spied to object of his inquires performing moves in fluid dance like motions on the work out mats. If he hadn’t known better he would have sworn she was actually dancing.

He appeared behind the girl to place a hand on her shoulder, only to have it captured into a small pale bear trap not seconds later.

As Robin it was ingrained into his very being to be furtive about all that he did, which made toning down his training in situation that don’t warrant him to be furtive a challenge. So Dick would later firmly blame Bruce for what happened next.

The sporadic glimpses of brown irises told his mind want his body knew mere moments later; that had been a big mistake.

Dick’s back rubbed roughly against the caves hard concrete floor as he skidded next to Jason on the freshly hacked bat-computer. Emitting from that area was synthesized gun shots and mild profanity with the occasional shouts of ‘Connor’ and ‘Rayner’. Dick’s eyes widen a portion of a quarter. Would you look at that, Jason wasn’t lying at dinner, he did have friends. Who woulda thunkit?

Without spearing a glance from the screen over toward Dick, Jason opened his mouth to do something other than spout profane and give his allies in arms orders, he gave some advice.

“She likes to be read to. Just so you know.”

Dick banked that helpful bit of information to only have his brain dissect and revise it into the only fashion he knew how-

His cognitive remaining was interrupted by the light pitter of small padded feet against the caves concrete floor coming towards his direction. He looked up to see his sister staring him dead in the eye.

He may not know many relevant items of information about the female of the family, but he did know that, by gazing into her brown eyes they were apologetic.

“Sorr-“

“It’s ok Cass, I’m alright. I shouldn’t have snuck up on you like that. So just hold that thought. “The teen was practically jumping up down at this point.” I’ll be right back to make it up with you. Sit tight.”

Cassandra could only blink in confusion as her eldest, most eccentric brother jogged out the cave, for there was no running in the cave.

All of her new family has confused her in one way or another, Dick just confused her more than usual. Dick was just so warm, bright, and open in everything he did. Robin on the other hand was darker, closed off, and almost cold in his methods. That is the main reason she attacked him; his movements weren’t Dick’s, but Robin’s.

Two people in one was too confusing. At least when Bruce was interchanging people they weren’t so widely different. Both Bruce and Batman were stern, but cared. Robin and Dick were polar opposites, and it startled Cass on more than one occasion. She needed to control herself better.

Cass watched as the as Dick bound his way towards where he had left them, with a massive hard back book tucked under his armpit and chest dragging behind him. His posture very much so bellowed satisfaction, while his face held a grin that Jason would appropriately describe as ‘spit’ eating.

She guided her eyes beyond Dick to look for a queue from Tim, who had a pout on his face clear as day saying he’s frustrated while his body admitted his exasperation. Tim held a dry erase board with a stick figured woman.

Cass not getting answers from her youngest brother (if anything more questions) turned over to the middle brother only getting his anger… at Dick. She was no detective but she would have it assume that it had something to do with the screen he was so invested in turning red and being littered by icons of a very similar symbol.

The boy wonders grin stayed on fast even when confronted with his upset siblings. He was a Grayson and flying Graysons never did things halfway, maybe backwards but not halfway. If that meant he had to improve (change) the bat-computers security codes, or erase his miracle brother’s board of evidence from already solved cases (it was for his own good) than so be it.

Time rolled by as he individually convinced (blackmail is such a awful word) his brothers into performing ‘the caves theatrical rendition of the little mermaid and other brother Grimm fairytales’, only to quit halfway though on realizing how hard it was to adapt the well know stories. They needed to use the erase board for most of it.

The day ways saved, thanks to Cassandra’s timely intervention. She rounded over to the chest labeled ‘custom rack’ and throws on a carmine trench coat and sun hat. Cass tugged on to Dick’s fabulous prince attire to present him with a police baton, thus started the adventures of Officer Grayson and his partner six inch Miss.

Dick knew that eventually Bruce would come down to the cave and upon seeing them in their outlandish attire would lecture them on using his disguised kit and makeup case extraneously. He also knew Tim, Jason, and himself would try and fail to quail their laughter at the subject matter putting them in even more trouble. Even while knowing this though he was certain he would not regret it. It was all worth it to make Cass forget about being guilty, that and seeing Tim in drag.

From his position behind his mock cardboard police desk, Dick peers at six inch Miss, Mad man Jace, and pink haired Tina and sees… Jason and Tim fairly engrossed, and Cass…she was a hard one to pin down.

There were four of them now. That fact didn’t bother Dick so much as that it took this longer for Dick to figure out what exactly that entailed.

As he determinedly tried to get on file the latest escapades of Batman and Robin, he could help but to be mildly distracted by the…sound pollution contaminating the cave.

Tim’s little sounds a frustration from Stephanie’s illogical rebuttal over my little pony seemed to be amplified by the cave somehow. They were only getting worse by her wolfish grin (as wolfish as a seven year old can get) and refusal to let Tim finish his point, you could set you clock by them.

The thud of metal too wood was a commentated by grunts and the sound of flesh hitting leather.

The teenager was sure that this was going to be one of those days Bruce warned him about when he learned his guardian’s secret and was adamant about helping him. Batman said there would be days that would grate at his soul.

He believed that this had to be one of those days. Well believed that is until he had an idea of course.

Dick’s vision trailed to the linear standing youths before him. Three of which were dressed in some variation of a Robin uniform. Jason is his older red and black design, Tim in an early green, red, yellow model with shorts, and Stephanie in a female version of Tim’s no doubt sown by Alfred.

The expectation, Cass, was sporting a black jumper with ebony cowl. The cowl it self was unusual in that the eyes and mouth were sown up.

As Rob- their big brother it was his duty to make sure they were prepared for their family’s life style and if it kept them busy while he got some work done…

“All right runts! You say you want to be boy wonders,” Dick took a pause in his pacing and winked over to the girls “girl wonders, and uh bats?”

Greeted by nods he continued” Today you will be taught the most important part of being a bat/bird-“

“Detective wor-,” Tim finished.

“Intimidation,” Jason interrupted.

“How to possible hide your identity though flimsy pieces of cloth that barely cover your face,” The newest bird chirped.

The female Bat hurled a bat-ranged at a near by practice dummy.

“No, no, no, and no. Most important might have been a bit of an exaggeration, but it is important to know when you’re climbing buildings or scaling ledges with your bare hands.” He pauses for dramatic effect. Oh how he loved to be the center of attention” you’re going spelunking!”

“…and you’re going to show us how to do that, right,” Steph said testing the waters just a little bit.

“Of-course I am!” like the well trained actor he was he kept his pseudo-cheery attitude.

‘Curses, I’m foiled by logic yet again!’

Three and a half hours later the gaggle of children were stationed on the hard wood floors of Wayne manor’s foyer, stripped of their uniforms, sopping wet.

“So, how we gonna to tell Bruce that he has two indoor pools instead of one now?” Stephanie probed the oldest from under her towel. She sat as the rest of them did, on top of a nest of towels.

“I don’t know,” Dick admit, the eye not covered by his towel wandered to the extravagant clock mounted above Cass’s head.

“Bruce is going to be home soon and for once I got nothing,” Tim exhaled.

The quiet clacking of tasteful leather against wood acquitted them from their panic attack.

“Children, I wish to inform you that Master Bruce is currently stuck in traffic and due to arrive in thirty minutes. If I may be as bold as to subjects that in that time you all would benefit greatly from getting your account on your excretion in the cave this afternoon in order,” The Wayne family’s beloved butler stiffed. “Also Miss Stephanie, Police commissioner Gordon is on the other line for you.”

As Stephanie followed Alfred out Jason looked anxiously around.

“Ok, I say we set some you else up to take the fall. I’m not getting time for this.”

Tim was appalled; Jay had done a lot of shady, borderline illegal things, but this was just reprehensible even for him.” What are you talking about? How are we going to set someone up if we’re all here-“Realization all too quickly dawned on the last remaining Drake’s face.

Cass rapidly threw her had back and forth with annulments.

“Look, I don’t wanna do this any more than you guys, but we really screwed up this time. If you think about it, it makes sense. She wouldn’t get any much trouble, it not like she lives here or nothn’. It was technically her fault anyways.”

“Just like it’s technically all our fault too!”

Tim looked to his eldest brother for back up, and saw him conversing with his battling desires. Dick mewled of his brother’s desperate proposition. It made sense that Jason would even consider doing something so awful to spare his own hind. He was on probation after that whole ‘Earth day: be green charity disaster’, heavy on the dis. Dick was pretty sure they broke a couple of minor laws. Point is one more slip up and Jason was going to Etiquette School.

Jay did have a point, it not like she’d get in too much trouble…”Dick!” Tim’s panicked voice brought him out of his disturbing thoughts.

“Uh, right!” the teen then lowered his voice and motioned his siblings closer,” Here’s what we’re gonna do, when Steph comes back we’re going to do the adult thing here.”

Not to long afterwards Robin finds himself shoulder to should in a still wet uniform with his protégés in the west wing hallways secret compartment.

“Thank you for standing up for me, Tim.” Stephanie sealed her gratitude with a kiss to Tim’s cheek.

Tim couldn’t very well form a single sentence after that.

In the dim light, provided by his belt’s glow sticks, Robin’s white lens land on the eyes of his birds and sees… Tim flustered, Jason upset, Steph pleased, Cass… she was still a hard one.
