As the team leader Kaldur felt it was his responsibility to promote team bonding. So he took to the internet looking for ideas. Apparently it was common for companies to send their employees to rope courses to improve cohesion.
“What is this?”
Artemis asked motioning to the three dimensional maze of ropes that had appeared in the training room.
Megan and Superboy looked equally confounded, while Wally raised an eyebrow. Robin’s face was unreadable as he gazed at the course.
“A rope course, it’s for team bonding”, Kaldur explained, “We’re going to use teamwork to get through it. No powers.”
“He’s not using powers”, Superboy said pointing up.
Superboy, Megan, Artemis, and Kaldur all stared in awe.
“Figures”, Wally muttered unsurprised but still impressed.
Above them Robin was twisting through the rope maze with ease, despite that it should be impossible for a single person. His laugh began to echo as the Boy Wonder pulled crazy stunt after crazy stunt. It was like he was born up there.
Watching him Kaldur realized that trying to join would be intruding on something special, personal.
2: Paint Ball
Kaldur’s team bonding plan B was a good idea in theory. Not so much in practice.
The paint splotched Kaldur and Megan glanced at each other as their teammates made a scene.
“I… lost…”
Robin looked like he was in shock. There were two green spots on his left arm, one on his right, and one more on his chest.
“You were cheating! I demand a rematch!”
Wally yelled in Artemis’s face. He had at least a dozen green marks and half as many red.
Superboy just glared at the ground as if willing his laser vision to work. He was coated in a virtual rainbow of colors.
Artemis smiled smugly, unfazed by the redhead’s aggressive stance. A lone spot of red was on her shoulder.
“How could I cheat in paint ball? You’re just that bad, and I’m that good.”
“So you’re some kind of paint ball goddess, Miss Conceited?”
“Goddess of the Hunt”, Robin corrected in a bitter tone, “An appropriate name.”
The archer shrugged.
“Not my fault you all are sore losers.”
3: Movie Night
It was simple. Everyone liked movies. Kaldur wondered why he hadn’t thought of it before.
“Can we watch a romance?”
“Sorry Megalicious. Guys outnumber girls, no chick flicks. But you can hold on to me if you get scared watching Day of the Dead.”
Artemis elbowed Wally for his comment.
“Ouch!”
“No zombies.”
Wally smirked.
“What? Afraid of zombies?”
“Of course not! It’s just repetitive. You’ve seen one zombie film, you’ve seen them all.”
“I agree. Let’s watch a mystery”, Robin suggested. He was already holding a DVD case.
“No way! You always figure out the plot and ruin it!”
“No, I don’t.”
“Yes, you do.”
“I prefer No Signal.”
Everyone turned to stare oddly at Superboy a moment before going back to bickering.
Kaldur sighed. Maybe movies weren’t so simple.

4: Monopoly
Kaldur walked into the living room area with the board game in hand.
“No! No, no, no, no.”
“It’s just a game”, Megan stated in blissful ignorance.
“Monopoly, right?”
Superboy said, remembering it from the genomorphs. Why they needed to implant knowledge of a board game he had no idea.
“Seems fun.”
Wally, Artemis, and Robin glanced at each other. Clearly they were the only ones that understood.
"Kaldur”, Robin started, “Trust us on this.”
Artemis continued, “Making us play Monopoly together isn't going to bring us closer.”
“It's going to make us kill each other”, Wally finished.
Kaldur sighed in defeat. He trusted Robin’s judgment, plus Wally and Artemis actually agreed. That meant the game had to be a terrible idea.
5: Picnic
It was his best idea yet. While they hadn’t done it for team bonding, the beach day had brought those there closer. So why not have another one with the whole team present? The only problem was that it was too chilly for everyone but himself to swim; they settled on having a beach picnic instead.
Everything was going great. Artemis was keeping an eye on Megan, who decided to try her hand at grilling (no one had the heart to tell her that putting a Martian beside an open fire was a horrible idea). Superboy and Robin were tossing a ball to ‘improve Supey’s control’, while Wally - snack constantly in hand - would chase after it when Superboy threw too far.
Kaldur thought it safe to run inside and grab some more drinks. When he came back five minutes later it was a complete disaster, heavy on the dis.
The food, baskets, picnic blanket, grill, and Robin - who was clinging to a case of Oreos - were floating mid-air. Superboy had a struggling Megan in a hug like grapple, trying and failing to soothe her. Wally and Artemis each held on to Robin’s feet in an attempt to pull him down.
“M’gann, put Robin down.”
“I want the Oreos”, she whined.
“This is your fault!”
Artemis yelled, adjusting her grip on the boy above.
“How’s it my fault?”
Wally yelled back, right in her ear. She winced.
“You brought those!”
“I didn’t know she’d react like a drug addict to them!”
“Guys, I’d really appreciate it if you saved the lover’s quarrel for later”, Robin butted in.
“…Oreos…”
Kaldur turned right back around. He was going to need League help to deal with this mess.

Kaldur didn’t consider himself a creative person, but this was a stroke of brilliance. Ultimately he put the inspiration down to the fight on movie night.
As he passed out the papers explaining their part in the game to his friends, Kaldur watched their expressions go from confused to curious to excited in Robin’s case and mischievous in Wally’s.
Wally was the victim, a scientist working on a highly classified project that was found dead in his apartment. Robin was the detective trying to figure out what happened. Artemis was a security guard for the lab, known to be on bad terms with Wally. Megan and Superboy lived in the same apartment complex and were the last to see him alive. Kaldur himself was another scientist that worked on the project.
After interviewing each suspect Robin returned to the crime scene (aka the living room), only for the body to have gone missing. It didn’t take long for the pieces of the puzzle to fit together.
“You changed genres on me”, Robin stated glancing over at Kaldur with an impressed expression.
Megan’s and Superboy’s heads poked out of the kitchen, where they had been interviewed moments before.
“What do you mean?”
“Why’s Wally repeating ‘brains’?”
Just then a shriek echoed through the cave.
The four glanced at each other, Megan clutching Superboy’s arm.
“I think we just lost Artemis.”
An hour later had Kaldur and Megan bunkered in the communications room. Kaldur sat in front of the computer pretending to be working on a cure for the zombie plague, while Megan sat hunched beside him staring at the secured door.
“Why’d Superboy have to sacrifice himself?”
“Don’t worry. With the information Robin got from Wally’s notes I can make a cure and we can get everyone back to normal.”
Thumps came from the other side of the door, followed by a chorus.
“Brains…”
“…Brains…”
“Brains…brains.”
“…brains?”
Both Kaldur and Megan jumped as the door was forced open.
“Keep working! I’ll hold them off!”
Megan picked up her paint ball gun but they were already on her, practically tackling the girl.
“Brains!”
Kaldur worked until the very end. Arms reached around him, pulling Kaldur to the floor so the ‘zombies’ could dog-pile on top of him.
Laughter from all six blended together as they made no attempt to detangle themselves.

Ah, Monopoly, its my favorite boardgame. None of my friends will play Monopoly with me anymore. I always win. And then they get all cranky. So, I loved the normal members reaction.

"I prefer No Signal."
<3. Just <3. Ditto for M'gann's revealed addiction to Oreos (J'onn ought've warned them about it!)
"You changed genres on me."
I LOVED this last one, because it showed off Kaldur's creativity and playful side and forced the team to think on its feet in a 'battle' simulation that was still fun. Plus, the Young Justice dog pile never stops being oodles of awesome.

That really does happen. Tangled dogpiles in that situation...
I mean, I've never had a genre-switching zombie murder mystery party, but I did throw a superhero-themed one once. And it was the best ever. It would've been worth it just to see my friends in their crazy costumes...a morph suit, a nerd costume, a muscle suit, SHARPIE WHEN SHE COULDN'T FIND BLUE LIPSTICK...
But anon is off on a tangent.
Side note: the Monopoly thing. See, I've never had that much problem with Monopoly, but the other day I was at a slumber party with some of my friends and I suggested it.
Dead silence.
Then my best friend takes my shoulder and tells me gently, "We are not playing Monopoly. Friendships are ended over that game."
So a couple minutes later I suggested Monopoly Junior.
Because a good mark of how close your friends are is how much verbal abuse they can take before resorting to violence.
You know, I should go make that a prompt.
