He's also good at the whole intelligence gathering thing.
So now they know that Supey's started showing the first signs of superspeed. And sense Superman still has a piece of kryptonite shoved up his ass who makes more sense to help teach him then the Flashes?
With that in mind it's a lot easier to pull Supey away from the mountain. Now they have a legitimate excuse to Central.
At around the same time Uncle gets really busy with stuff and so they end up training mostly with Grandpa Jay. Of course before they can get any real training done they have to teach Supey how to just run instead of jumping around like an overgrown bullfrog. Wally actually gets involved in the training a lot more then he had thought he would and finds himself improving too. He's not sure if it's going over the basics, having to figure out ways to explain things he's just been doing on instinct or just him finnaly growing into his powers but it's pretty awesome. Anything good he can pile up to prove that Supey should stay with them is doubly good on top of that.
Of course being around Grandpa Jay means being around Grandma Joan. Any questions that might have popped into Wally's head about whether or not Supey wants this disappear the first time Joan makes an apple pie. Supey takes a bite and it's like none of his walls can stand up to the goodness that is her pie. Wally can see all the joy and longing plain as day on Supey's face.
He's pretty sure Grandma Joan See's it too because the next thing they know they're both spending the night and Supey's getting measurements taken for the sweater Joan is going to knit him.
It's not that long until everyone starts having little tells that let Wally know they've taken the bait that is Supey's awesomeness. His dad takes on the task of giving Superboy the talk saving Wally or one of the others from having to do it themselves. His mom reaches out during dinner one night with a saliva whetted finger to rub off a bit of pasta sauce. Uncle Barry comes up with like five different nicknames for him. Aunt Iris actually leads the charge in getting Supey a proper name.
Wally's just about ready to drop any pretense and plead his case when everything goes wrong.
Some sort of trigger placed by Cadmus is set off and Supey goes evil.
