5 times Superboy was caught parading around in a cape, and one time in tights.

I've been trying to shorten it lately since my fill sort of turned in to a story about Superboy where he wears a cape five times and then some. :/ So, yeah. I don't know if it's still what you wanted, OP. But I hope you still enjoy it.

There seems to be an insurmountable weight on Superman's shoulders. It's honestly an obvious fact when one thinks about it, but the actual idea of The Man of Steel carrying a weight he can't handle is ridiculous.

Contrary to popular belief, Superboy is quite observant. Even without his Supersenses, as unrefined and limited as they are, the boy is curious, or suspicious, about a great deal of things. Superman-related things especially.

He sees it from the newspaper photos Kid Flash helps him cut out whenever a headline about Superman hits the presses, which is often. Robin, of all people, originally suggested it after an awkward impromptu interview a random reporter had with Superboy. Needless to say, the experience of not being able to describe 'what it was like to work with Superman' was mildly ( ... )

The room itself is nice. The bed is comfortable and so is the closet. The floor stays nice and cool even on the hottest summer days, but the walls...the walls are white and blank. White, just like his solar suit, like Desmond's lab coat. And blank, just like his mind the first time he opened his eyes and gazed into the chilling quicksilver stare of Aquaman's sidekick.

He hates it.

It's the reason why Artemis suggested he paint it. It's the reason Wally asked what was his favorite color so they could use it on the walls. It's the reason Robin downloaded a comprehensive color wheel for him when he said he didn't actually have one. In the end, he couldn't just decide on his favorite color. Not so quickly when he hasn't even gotten to know them yet, what they mean.

"Dude, who gets to know colors?"

"Hush. I think it's a good idea. You choose a color that associates with something you enjoy, correct?"

"And since Superboy still has a lot left to enjoy, he's waiting it out."

"You like apple pie, right? Maybe your favorite color could be ( ... )

Today it's a shot of Superman carrying an injured woman to safety with the headline: The Man of Steel Does It Again! He's cascading down towards the photographer in the photo. His boots teasingly float just out of gravity's reach while his deep red cape swirls in the wind like unfurling wings.

There's a tingle of envy crackling at the edges of Superboy's fingertips as he positions the flimsy piece of paper to the lower corner of his collage. It slithers across his arms and shoots right through his chest to dance around his back. As if the odd sensation wants to pierce through his invulnerable flesh and sprout in to wings. He actually wouldn't mind. Being able to fly means he'll be able to help more. And if Superman takes off he'll be able to follow for once.

I'll be more like him too. He thinks, staring at the hero's face intently before covering it with a thumb. The paper slides higher until he's satisfied with the placement ( ... )

Superman's always had a heavy burden to bear. He's only ever wanted to take some of it. Be worthy to be trusted with it. He thinks if he's just a little more like Superman, he won't be so much of a screw up. But he doesn't know enough about the man to be like him ( ... )
