“Most of them looked like they were killed by gunfire,” Robin said.

“Large-caliber bullets, mainly,” Artemis interjected. Robin nodded, then continued.

“There were some that may have been victims of explosions, mainly in the eastern part of the canyon. Once we reached the western half it was mainly gunfire.”

Bruce tried to ignore the sinking feeling as the entire team nodded and tried to look patient.

“Did you want the numbers too, or is that all?” Wally raised his hand. “’Cause I kinda wanted to beat Rob at a round of MarioKart before we had to go home.”

Bruce hesitated. “Go ahead.” The boys ran out the room.

“Beat me? Ha! You drive like an old lady!”

“Do not! Fastest Kid Alive, remember?”

Kaldur looked worried. “Are you sure that you didn’t need anything else about the mission?”

Bruce nodded, and the rest of the team left. He looked at the other mentors. Barry was still staring at the door the kids had left through, and Dinah looked about ready to collapse. He could hear a quiver in her voice when she spoke.

“What have we done?”

I love how it's all an utter non-issue for the kids. How they can't even conceive of having a problem with gore.

This is beautiful. I love the slow, sinking realization - and it makes me want to see one of the JL who doesn't see the problem with it. Who thinks that this is a good thing because hey - this means they won't end up traumatized, right?
