Superboy’s door was locked but just a small application of force fixed that. The faint light spilling in from the hallway illuminated the sleeping boy. Kal paused for several minutes just to look at him. Maybe there was something slightly different in the shape of his eyes. Kal wasn’t certain but he wanted to catalogue every detail that made this boy different, everything that made him so right where everyone else was wrong.
Soon it wasn’t enough just to look at him. He had to touch. Kal trailed a finger lightly along the side of the boy’s face, glorying in the inhuman texture of the skin beneath his finger tips. “Right, finally right.”
Kal pressed gently on the boy’s lower lip and when his lips parted Kal leaned over him and kissed him. Superboy was a deep sleeper, but the completely unknown sensation of someone else’s tongue brushing against his was more than enough to startle him into wakefulness.
For several moments Kal held the boy pinned, the feel of a warm, not cool like humans, squirming body pressed up against his was too much temptation. He muffled the boy’s startled exclamations by pressing their mouth tightly together, letting the boy’s mouth muffle his groans. Then he pulled back slightly. “Easy, it’s Kal,” he whispered, his lips still close enough to brush against the boy’s.
Kal watched the emotions playing across Superboy’s face hungrily: Startled, reflexive anger giving way to recognition and confusion. As he continued staring into the boy’s remarkably clear, expressive eyes the want slowly, hesitantly crept back in. “You’re looking at me. You never look at me,” the boy said, his tone hushed and fearful, as if afraid Superman would go back to ignoring him for bring it up.
Kal claimed his mouth again, slowly, deliberately and thoroughly. Superboy wasn’t quite as responsive as he might have liked but his mouth was pliant and the taste of him wasn’t alien.
After a long time Kal pulled back. “What do your friends call you?”
“Supey, SB.”
“SB, I like that.” It was so much better than thinking of him as Superboy, the boy or the clone. And Kal did not want to name SB, he just *wanted* him.
Kal wanted to touch SB, taste him, to explore every inch of him. He wanted to make SB scream his name and writhe beneath him. But other people would hear and come and get in the way.
“Come on, I want to take you somewhere.” Reluctantly Kal pushed himself off of SB then extended his hand to the boy.
“Should I get dressed?”
Kal considered it. His crest marking the other Kryptonian as his had definite appeal. So did SB’s naked, sculpted torso. “Don’t worry about it. Where I’m taking you it’ll be just us.”
“Okay,” SB agreed happily.
Kal wrapped a possessive arm around SB’s waist and escorted him out of the base. Once they were outside Kal pulled SB even closer and lifted them into the sky. He was thrilled when SB tentatively returned his embrace.
In just a few minutes they were flying over barren ice fields.

lakjhdlsgkg you did such a great job justifying why Clark's having the reaction he does, and also why he stayed away and NOW. NOW IT IS ALL RUINED. OH NOOO.

Anon you are my well-timed hero. <3 I am so pleased and excited (multipart fill eeeee! :DDD), and OH CLARK YOU ARE CRAZY. MULTIPLE CLARKS CRAZY. MAYBE IF YOU'D SLEPT AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK? Really I got excited as soon as I read your author's note, because I'm not usually a mentor/mentee shipper either but this idea would not leave me alone, so I was immediately like, "YES, anon UNDERSTANDS!" *snickers*
I love that you took the time to explain Clark's sexuality and history and the inherent doom in it all. I just love ALL this luscious set-up, in fact, that and your author's notes have assured me that you are about to commit awesome on this fill. *rolls in it. ROLLS.* In short, anon, I adore you, and am delightedly looking forward to the next part. <333
Also, for the record, this whole paragraph is made of crushing awesome and is I think my favorite:

I think it might be Clark being so adamant about 'not his father' that steers this clear of my 'not my kink' area.
One thing on the show that really bugs me (and tends to frequently crop up in my fics) is that Clark seems to have huge problems making eye-contact with Superboy. IMO it looks like he feels ashamed of how he's acting, but I think Superboy would be inclined to misinterpret it very badly.
As for the MPD thing, Kal is an ID construct: what he wants, when he wants it, no other concerns.
I read the stuff about Superman that says "the only superhero who takes off his mask (glasses) when he becomes the hero," and I think it can work for short stories like "Superman: Birthright". But in-continuity the stories I like best treat Clark as the fully-functional, multifaceted person, the one who forms relationships. While Superman is a representation of an ideal that he constructed for everyone, including himself, to live up to. And I think some of Comic-SB's problems were because for the longest time he was trying to have a relationship with Superman (who isn't really a person) and didn't know about Clark at all.

I always feel just a tincie bit wrong reading stuff like this, but I can never stop reading when it's good. Curses, this meme will have me in hell when i die. Still we're all going there so we can continue it for all eternity.
How did I start on that tangent? Perhaps I need more sleep myself.
