a garden of everything [1/12] anonymous March 14 2011, 23:14:10 UTC
I started writing last night and it's already becoming a monster. I-I hope you'll enjoy!
-----

It’s absolute chaos and Jason really doesn’t envy whoever’s going to be on cleanup duty. Robot parts litters the ground and he has to be careful where he steps or else he might catch a live wire. He really doesn’t want to be the only person to get electrocuted after the whole fight. Kara would never let him live it down.

“J’onn!” Bruce’s voice barks over the com-link. “Get to the central antechamber. Now.”

There’s a click that means he’s shut it off and not quite wanting to deal with the authorities or clean up duty, Jason makes a beeline for the place where Batman’s at. On his way, he passes J’onn who gives him a wry smile. Then, he hands Jason an oreo.

“I won’t tell if you won’t,” he says and Jason can’t remember when the Martian Manhunter became his favorite Justice League member after Batman.

“My lips are sealed,” Jason says and crams the whole thing into his mouth at once. He makes sure there are no crumbs around his mouth when he enters the room and sees half of the hard hitters on the League gathered around the mainframe of a supercomputer. Next to it is a giant platform protected by a flimsy shield of glass, glowing a progressively brighter blue. The low hum of energy makes the hair on the back of Jason’s neck stand on end and he just about resists the impulse to set explosives around the room and be done with it.

“-shut it off?” Clark’s distinctive voice is loud and echoes in the room.

“It’s on lockdown,” Bruce snaps. “It’s not going to shut down just because you want it to.”

“You want to bet?” Shayera says, lifting her mace.

“Don’t,” J’onn says, staring at the screen. “Even if you break it, it won’t stop the transport. Something is going to come through regardless if you do anything or not.”

Shayera lowers her mace with a scowl and Jason does his best to not get in her way when she stomps to the other side of the room, clearly mad at not being able to destroy a supercomputer. Judging by the look on Clark’s face, he’s pretty mad about it too.

“So we can only prepare for what comes through,” Clark grits through his teeth. “Half our people are injured and you want to wait for reinforcements?”

“Seven people,” J’onn says and Jason peers at the screen. It’s all a bunch of gibberish to him, but apparently J’onn can read it. “It’s…strange,” he says, face pulled into a frown. “The message here is the same as the one the Watchtower received a week ago.”

“Great, even better!” Clark throws his hands up into the air in exasperation. “So we’ve got hackers coming through. What if it’s Brainiac? What if it’s something worse?”

“Clark, calm down!” Diana finally snaps and Jason scoots further away from the drama so that he’s nearly next to Shayera.

Jason sighs. Clark’s always got a flare for the dramatic even worse than a girl in Jason’s opinion, but he’s never been able to see eye to eye with the Superman. Maybe it’s because Clark can’t seem to stand any of the new sidekicks’ presence, Jason included. Every time he sees them, he’d visibly flinch and whenever he looks straight at Jason, Jason knows exactly who Clark is thinking of and seeing. It’s never him in the costume as Robin, it’s Dick Grayson. Hell, Bruce gets the look sometimes, but he at least tries to keep it under wraps.

“Kiddo, what are you doing here?” Shayera asks. Her deep green eyes are almost black from the shadows of her helmet.
