“class, please welcome wufan back to this school!” the teacher announces as she claps her hand excitedly, huge smile spreading across her face.

“of course she would be happy,” luhan grudgingly mumbles. wufan was the top student; high grades with amazing skills in basketball. he brought fame to their school.

“luhan, would you please return to your seat? i’m about to start class,” the teacher says, eyes clearly indicating how much she hates luhan.

a smirk graces luhan’s face before he swings his legs off the window sill he was precariously sitting on. “sure, teach.” from the corner of his eyes, he sees wufan frowning in disapproval.

“luhan!” he hears wufan shout from behind but chooses to ignore and continues making his way to the back exit. jongin had texted him to meet them there as soon as possible.

“luhan, wait up!” he hears wufan try again and it’s beginning to get on his nerves. he whips around and glares at wufan.

“what do you want?” he grits out, fists curling into tight balls. “i have places to be.”

“what happened to you?” wufan says and the intensity of luhan’s glare increases.

“what is it to you?” luhan growls and turns around. He really needs to get to the exit before jongin loses his patience.

“luhan, don’t be like this,” wufan says and luhan feels wufan’s hand wrap around his wrist. letting instinct take over, luhan turns around to uppercuts wufan in the stomach, causing the taller to topple over in pain.

“leave me alone, wufan,” luhan shouts and runs the rest of the way to the exit.

he doesn’t tell yixing why he’s so angry when he finally joins the group at the exit.

they’re in an abandoned warehouse thirty minutes from seoul. dust and dirt quickly invade luhan’s nostrils and if luhan had been there a year prior, he would have complained about the dirtiness. but he’s no longer the person he was a year ago. he had been in dirtier places, places where he had abandoned defeated enemies with blood covering him all over.

“my, my, what do we have here? baby jongin with his little gang. oh, you even have the pretty one with you,” bang yongguk says and flashes a wink towards yixing, knowing how much it riles jongin up.

he sees yixing rolling his eyes, not even slightly affected by yongguk’s comment. jongin on the other hand curls his lips back, a low rumble sounding from his chest. “don’t you dare touch yixing.”

“why can’t we share, jongin? remember what our foster parents used to say? sharing is caring, jongin-ah,” yongguk teases and luhan watches as Jongin balls his fists and gets himself ready for the fight soon to happen.

“fuck you,” jongin growls before charging at yongguk, fists colliding with yongguk’s jaw and luhan could hear a small crack sound.

in less than a minute, the warehouse had become a warzone. the sounds of bodies landing on the ground with a loud thud, grunts of pain here and there, and bangs of destruction could be heard. luhan dodges every punch sent his way with grace. he’s not the type to use brute force. he evades attacks after attacks, waiting for weakness to show, whether it be them tiring themselves out or a miscalculated swing, before he strikes, leaving them crumpled up in pain on the floor before taking on another challenger.

he sees yixing flipping a man twice his size over and he flashes a proud grin before striking his opponent in the nose, not even flinching when he feels the shattering of bones against his knuckle. the fight only continues on for another five minutes before he sees yongguk signals for his gang to retreat, hand clutching his dangling right arm. jongin probably broke it.

luhan stands beside yixing, arm looped around the younger’s waist, supporting his weight while he watches yongguk’s gang drag themselves out of the warehouse. they have more casualties, luhan notes, and a wave of relief rushes over him.

“are you okay, yixing?” he hears Jongin say from his right and lets the younger take yixing into his care. yixing is his boyfriend.

“i’m fine, just a little tired,” yixing says and smiles when jongin leans forward to peck him on the lips.

“thank god,” jongin says.

luhan feels a stab of jealous in his heart as he watches the lover’s exchange. he could have been in something like that, where strong arms wrap possessively around his waist, where someone fusses over his well-being. he could have been in love if wufan had not left.

he wouldn’t have had to beat people up if wufan hadn’t left.

i'll always be with you

⇢ yixing is constantly having nightmares of his past. (700)

-------------------------

yixing gasps as he wakes up from his nightmare. he observes his surroundings with caution and sighs in relief at the familiar furniture placed around his room in an organized fashion.

“are you okay, yixing?” luhan, his brother who sleeps in the same bed next to him, asks as he rolls around to hug yixing.

“same stupid dream again. it won’t leave me alone,” yixing grumbles and nuzzles in closer to luhan’s warmth. “what time is it?”

“five in the morning,” luhan replies as runs his hands through yixing’s hair and rubs comforting circles on yixing’s back. “what were your dreams about this time?”

“red eyes and tons of lifeless bodies scattered all over the floor. i’m running away and suddenly, a wall with our parents hanging on it appears in front of me and then I see red eyes again,” yixing shivers at the memory and hugs luhan tighter. “why do they still haunt me? even until today, i can distinctly remember those red eyes and how he seemed to want to tell me something.”

luhan gives him a gentle squeeze before pulling away to look directing into yixing’s eyes. “they’ve had him locked up for all these years, yixing. there is nothing for you to worry about.”

“he has something planned, luhan. capturing him was far too easy back then. i could see it in his eyes, he has something planned and i’m scared that day will come soon.”

it has been thirteen years ago but the memory was still crystal clear in yixing’s mind. he had just returned home from school and being the observant type of person he was, he was quick to sense the eerie atmosphere and how unusually quiet the mansion was. he had flung his shoes off and dashed down the hallway, slowing down to a walking pace halfway through to scan each room carefully.

“where is everyone?” yixing had muttered to himself as he continued his way down.

he finally reached the door to the living room when he heard a piercing scream from inside and yixing immediately flung the door open, gasping in horror. blood stained almost every inch of the room. there were small piles of dead bodies in random areas of the room and in the middle of everything stood a familiar figure with a sword dripping with blood.

“what did you do, chanyeol!?” yixing shouted at the figure. “please chanyeol. please tell me you weren’t the one who did all this. please!”

the said man looks at yixing with wide glowing blood red eyes. “y-yixing, your parents did such horrible things before you were born. they aren’t what you think they are yixing. you’ve always been such a naïve child and it’s time to wake up from that stupid world you were raised in and have a look at reality,” chanyeol had said as he slowly approached yixing.

yixing remembers trembling with fear but strangely, it was not because he was scared of chanyeol. “had your parents ever told you they killed an entire family just to gain higher status?”

yixing remembers shivering as chanyeol caressed his cheeks with his cold, blood stained hands. “i can see where you have gotten your naivety. they believed i would never find out i was the only survivor of that family. they thought i would grow up in believing i was born to serve your family.” chanyeol continues caressing his cheek and yixing remembers seeing chanyeol’s frown when he jerked back, away from chanyeol when he realized how close the latter had gotten to him.

“d-don’t k-kill me, please,” yixing remembers stuttering and is surprised by chanyeol’s laughter.

“I could and would never kill you yixing. i love you too much to hurt you,” chanyeol whispered and was about to lean in closer if luhan had not appeared out of nowhere and slammed him against the wall.

“don’t you dare touch my little brother, chanyeol,” luhan growled as he handcuffed chanyeol.

chanyeol made no move to push luhan away and continued to stare deep into yixing’s eyes with his red ones. yixing remembers hearing a voice, strangely similar to chanyeol’s, telling him they’ll be together again.

“i love you, yixing,” echoed in his head as he watched people take chanyeol away.
