John's alarm didn't go off, but he is so used to getting up early in the morning, he is already awake. He'd coming back into the bedroom from starting coffee, and noting the time, he hurries over to turn it off before it wakes Erica. He doesn't make it, the clock turns...and silence. Huh. Erica feels...thick, and she rolls from her side to her back, hair a wild mess around her head as she stretches out before looking up at him, blinking sleepily.

"Huh?" she asks in all of her foggy coherency.

His brow is still furrowed in bewilderment.

"Do you remember, being someone else?"

She snorts at how absurd his question is, closing her eyes. But then she thinks about it and her eyes fly open again as she sits up on her elbows.

"What the hell?"

"Someone who was us, but not us?" He's sitting on the bed in his robe, still trying to figure it out. He reaches over to stroke her hair.

"Still nuts about you, though."

Her voice is still rough, and she hums a little closing her eyes.

"You..." She chuckles. "You were a cowboy. You were the sheriff."

He chuckles.

"Yeah, just like my costu...motherfuck!" He stands up in a hurry, and jogs to Angels room to check on her, then Puck. Please God let Angel not be in a hundred year coma.

Angel is sleeping, curled up in bed. Patches is there, and when he moves she rolls over closer to him. The dog's head moves up sleepily, then back down.

Meanwhile, Erica's pushed herself out of bed and tossed on one of his t-shirts and a pair of his briefs.

John checks in on Puck, then comes back, looking relieved.

"The kids are okay," he says.

"Good," she breathes out in relief, shoulders sagging a little before she pads to the bathroom. She does her business, washes her hands and laughs as she gets her toothbrush.

"I remember being fascinated by the toilet."

"Ice cream. I was a guy who could remember ice cream made from a recipe that was George Washington's favorite." His eyes widened and he sat down.

"I was a guy who could remember being in the fucking Civil War."

Brushing her teeth quickly and running her brush through her hair, she makes her way back out and sits next to him.

"That's right," she breathes out, remembering. "I used to be a...holy shit I was a whore."

"Remembering that can't've been much better than remembering being in the fucking war."

"Jesus, you were in the Civil War, John."

She shakes her head, just sort of awestruck. Then she laughs in shock, before chewing on the inside of her cheek as she thinks.

"We...have colorful past lives."

"You think that's what it was? Past lives?" He's willing to consider it.

"I like to think that I'd found you in another life before this. Maybe some life I'll be smart enough to find you first.

Erica reaches over and takes his hand, nodding. "That's what I think. And...this time I don't think I was married before. Actually, I know I wasn't. So, now we just have to get it right on your end," She says, leaning over to press her forehead against his cheek.

"Next time, come find me before I have a chance to do something stupid, okay?" Not that he'd thought marrying Holly was stupid. He could never regret that, and he knew Erica knew and understood. But next time? Yeah, let's skip that.
