There is something magical about the time after you finish reading a book, but before you start reading a new one. We are at a point where if I were somehow able to drop everything and devote myself to doing nothing but reading great literature, I doubt if I’d cover 10% of what I’d like to read. The practical infinity of that idea staggers me. It lets me believe that somewhere out there is a book that will suddenly snap the world into full focus, but removes any pressure associated with actively seeking that book. After all, the chance is unlikely and there are many worthy alternatives. It reminds me of the best day of my life, which is tomorrow. Always, tomorrow. However it does make trips to the bookstore unhealthy for my wallet.
I had a dream recently that inspired me to pitch a cop show called “Fitz & Starks.” All I have is the title so far. I imagine they are partners who butt heads as they solve crimes. Maybe an Irish guy and a black guy.
