Anthrocon 2012 - Saturday

Sat 16 June
I woke after maybe 3 1/2 hours sleep. I tried going back, finally getting out of bed at 10:30. Five hours would have to suffice. I scarfed a bite (thank goodness KJ stocks a cooler full of lunch meats), and decided I'd try for one of the special fursuiter badges this morning. Since there was a panel with Guest of Honor Dev Madan, I got into Chairo's Sly Cooper costume.
Sly was built for show, and although there were some tweaks to get it practical as a hall costume, there were some challenges. One was that Sly had lost one of the ankle covers and we couldn't find matching blue spandex, so Chairo split the remaining ankle and it just barely covered below the knee to where the boot started. I wouldn't show skin if I didn't do any extreme knee bending. So no dramatic poses. Six safety pins held his pants to his shirt, which I had a heck of a time getting to lay correctly without wrinkles or fabric pulling.

I did a walk from the room to the info desk, where JBadger gave me the last blue fursuiter badge. This year there were assorted colors of acrylic badges. I missed Dev's panel, so I went on toward the dealers room. Maybe he was there. Sadly I missed him, so I wandered a bit before heading back to the hotel room.

I took a brief break, had another sammich and more water. KJ came by -- he was so excited about Baron he suited up for his first fursuit parade since 2005! I told him about the G.Shep photo shoot afterward.

Sly came back to the dealers room, got a few photos with Dev Madan. He was delighted to see his creation brought to life! He signed a couple posters for me and Chairo, which I left with Fauxpaw roo, since I was about to do the parade.

If there was EVER EVER EVER EVER a year I would have pushed to the front row of the parade group photo, this would be it. If I thought Sly Cooper wouldn't show any skin at the knee, I would have done a dramatic Sly Cooper pose with cane in hand. It was tricky enough trying to get the cane even in the shot without blocking anyone.
I give up. I can never seem to get back to updating these con travelogues after a certain time. Maybe I should just keep them simple...

Late lunch/early dinner upstairs at Tonic. BBF, Tony Ringtail, Fawks Beaumont, SkippyFox, Kodi and Skroy were there. I had a couple Yuenglings.

Later hung out with Tilt, DukeFawks, WhitePaw, Scooter... Tony Ringtail, SkippyFox and Howee dropped by. We had pizza and watched a few thrift store home movies. Odd to think that these were once someone's memories, tossed out and up for sale.

Suited up as Twilight and hit up Tonic really late with Balto, Ruby (as Aphox) and Alex Dachshund. The sidewalk was packed, so we hung inside. We met some folks from a wedding party who had come by afterward to meet some furries. I find that dropping character while staying suited seems to be less awkward. We talked a bit and he bought us a round of beers before closing.

Did some party hopping but they were mostly closed down. Ended up going to Subway around the corner which was open all night during the con. Got mine to go, but ended up following ElectroPaw and SkippyFox back to Subway since they were hungry too.

Finally bed like 4:30am.
