I love Buster Keaton.

I'm actually kind of excited for the huge research paper on silent film screenwriter Jules Furthman that's gonna be eating me alive soon. So spending most of my weekend doing research on him at the library won't be as bad as it should be. And I probably will get to spend a weekend driving down to L.A. to search through archives at AFI and UCLA's film library (meaning plenty of side trips and diversions and a weekend off work!!). Autry Museum? MoMA?

Also in the works this weekend: A review of The Assassination of Jesse James By the Coward Robert Ford, which I saw last night. Surprisingly, at 2 hours and 40 minutes, it didn't seem laboriously long or put me to sleep (and god knows I could use some). It was much better than I would have expected, having some sort of strange bias against Brad Pitt for reasons I can't really explain. And, it was really funny, walking out of the theater realizing I was a) the only female in the audience and b) the only person under 50. Now I have a 5 pm Monday deadline looming over me. But yay for 70s-inspired Westerns, nevertheless!

You know, I realized the other day that I'm allowing myself no free time. I've gotta change something, quit one job or quit working on that film project or stop sleeping altogether, or I'll never see anybody or have any fun (or pass any of my classes). I know I allow myself to get too busy sometimes on purpose, and I'm trying to stop all of that. My schedule is kind of ridiculous these days.
