[Books 2006] Book #2

Jan 23, 2006 17:29

There's a bunch of books at work that the Transitional Living Program (for teens) gets for free from publishers and whomever else. They're selling them, but I don't usually buy books, even for $2 - $5. So I borrowed 2 of them. I guess what I'm saying is, I didn't have a good selection to choose from, so I picked ones that looked not-entirely-horrible. Once I make it to the library again, I'll have something better. Or at least something I've actually chosen.

This time I read The Girl Who Owned a City. It's a kids/young adult book which is set in the near future after a plague has swept through and, unbelieveably enough, killed everyone over the age of 12. It's a fun read, I guess, but it's filled with a lot of the kids' inner dialogue which is written a bit too adult-like for my taste.
It's a good premise, but the plot didn't really go anywhere super-fun. So I give it an "eh" rating.

books 2006, didn't like
