I went as a chaperone on Student day with Sprig and 135 of his closest classmates! It rained so I slogged thru the mud and my hip is still yelling at me! But watching Zilch in the rain was AWESOME, and the call from Panther who was too busy working but mentioned shopping in the rain.
It was very good for my much depressed heart.
Faire in jeans with 9th graders, THAT was it's own challenge, add the rain and mud, at least I KNEW to wear junk boots, some of the teachers wore sandals. I overheard one random adult say that it was the WORST field trip EVAR, and I thought, nah, the worst day at Faire is better than the best day most anywhere else. I guess it is like the acting bug, I am still totally bitten and probably totally insane, but it was amazing.
biggest problem with student days is not nearly everyone is there, and I was there ON BELTANE, but we had to leave before Maypole, which probably didn't happen in the rain anyway... Got to shock one of Sprig's classmates, she was AMAZED I knew about Beltane. (I know lots of things about lots of things, SURPRISE.)

Maypole did happen, and it was the worst FusterCluck that I've ever seen. It took us 20 minutes to untangle what wasn't even one full rotation - with 6 helpers.
Though the funny part was - "I'm not going to tell you why, but everybody come kick the maypole. Now!"
Maypole dances, on Beltane, in the rain... yeah - we're not responsible for their horny arses.
