There are 3 parts to this documentary, but I couldn't figure out how to attach the other two.. yet. So, here are the links instead:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKxlsTUek1g Good documentary to watch. I've always been wary about plastic shopping bags from groceries, but have never connected it to product packaging that much...
I do know MANY items that comes in excessive packaging:
- memory sticks (SD cards): it's annoying how much packaging is involved. You have this plastic thing at least 3 times the size of the memory stick itself "protecting" the plastic case that is "protecting" the SD card.
- CDs (even more excessive for video games because they come in boxes): almost same as above... packaging for the packaging for your product
- IKEA furnishing: i know they are there to protect the products from scratching and such, but I think the designers should also put more thought in reducing the packaging of their products. I had the pleasure of ripping syrofoam, cardboards, and plastics before assembling my furniture.
- convenient foods (I never buy them because of the excessive packaging): a box of multiple small packaged food items (when you can buy just ONE big package and split it up in a reusable container)
I know there are more out there, so please add to my list!
Final thought:
Less is more.
