It seems like longer than 2 months and six days, but since I started this journey towards better health on October 8, I've now passed 500,000 steps. That's halfway to my first goal whereby I can be remimbursed by my employer for the cost of my Fitbit.

It never gets easier and there will always been that part that just wants the pizza and beer. In a way it's worse as you go further down the rabbit hole that is the health and fitness community...they lie. They lie to themselves and each other and hope that if they say it often enough it will be true. It will always taste better than fit feels.
I can only promise that fitness is worth it.
That's what you have to focus on because once you hit goals, for some it gets harder and that's why I gently nudge and am very happy to see how enthusiastic you are for walking...you need a reason. You eat right, you keep moving, you do the right things, you reach your fighting weight, your pants from your teen years fit and there is much celebration and rejoicing and then...no one cares. It's hard to find joy in the food you don't want to eat and activities you don't want to do when it gets you nothing. You have to find a reason before then.
This spring, do me a favor; walk a 5k. Most 5k races have a "walker" category. Sign up for it. I can promise you that the man who steps up to the starting line and the man who crosses the finish line will be different. There is power in self-efficacy that I can't even begin to explain.
I don't have to tell you how the weight gets into your head. How it makes you feel less than in every possible way...and you start taking it to heart. Achieving is a key part to beating that. It's terrifying and it hurts but proving those voices wrong makes it so worth the effort.
FWIW, I'm back to the gym tonight. You can't lose if you keep fighting.

Today has been difficult due to goodies around the department. This next couple of weeks will be hard for that reason.
As to the 5K, my hope is to run one next year. Then run another, then another, and another. I want to run them with my kid who asked me to run one with her. I mean, how cool is that, right?
And good for you at the gym. Knock 'em out, G.
