Ladies and Gentlemen, your attention please! May I have your attention please? Thank you! I'd like to direct your attention to Charlie Fuqua, Republican candidate for the Arkansas House of Representatives!
Charlie wrote a book. Charlie titled his book God's Law. I guess Charlie didn't think that God did a good enough job with The Bible. Among other things Charlie talked about in his book, aside from tossing all Muslims out of the United States, because...oh, who the hell knows why Charlie would suggest this. Maybe Charlie is equal parts Scared, Ignorant and Just Plain Stupid? But, I digress...
Charlie wants to make it legal for you to kill your rebellious children. Charlie bases this on Deuteronomy 21:18-21 where it says,
18 If someone has a stubborn and rebellious son who does not obey his father and mother and will not listen to them when they discipline him, 19 his father and mother shall take hold of him and bring him to the elders at the gate of his town. 20 They shall say to the elders, “This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a glutton and a drunkard.” 21 Then all the men of his town are to stone him to death. You must purge the evil from among you. All Israel will hear of it and be afraid. (NIV)
Charlie goes on to say that he isn't sure this ever happened in the Bible, or that any parent would actually WANT to do this, and that it would have to be Judicially approved (Phew!), but the threat would be enough to keep kids in line.
Now, I don't know about you, but I think Charlie is bat-shit crazy. Needless to say, many people are quite upset with Charlie. Further staining the fine state of Arkansas is fellow GOP member Jon Hubbard (from Jonesboro) and Jon decided to write that "Slavery May Have Been a Blessing" in a book he wrote. It is titled Letters to the Editor: Confessions of a Frustrated Conservative
I do not hold the State of Arkansas responsible for these two dudes. Bat-Shit Crazy isn't dependent on location, as there are all manner of Bat-Shit Crazy people like Charlie and Jon. But, I would ask anyone from Arkansas to do the proper thing and not vote for either of these two Bat-Shit Crazy people. It only encourages them to further heights of Bat-Shit Craziness.
Thank you and good night.
