Okay, so its time for the update. Let’s start off with the family reumion. My mom, brother and I drove all the way down from Bloomington, IL, to Weatherford, TX. Basically it took around 14-16 hours. On the way down, we stayed at a hotel overnight because we left a little after I got home from work. On the way back up, we got back in one day. Mostly because we had to wake up at 5:00 in the morning.
Anyways, the actual reunion was just one day. It was on my grandmother’s birthday. For the special occasion, everyone from every branch of the family tree brought over their quilts that Grandma made for them. There were dozens of them. It was actually interesting to see what designs and fabrics were used, especially over the years.
My brother and I stayed in one of the guest rooms in my grandma’s house, and my mom stayed with her sister (my aunt winette and uncle Jack) next door.
Towards the end of the week, my brother and I went to the zoo. We started driving, and about an hour later I asked how much further it was going to be. Well, it turned out that we were going the wrong way for an hour, and I didn’t bring our GPS with us. But we lucked out cause we found another zoo in Abilene. It wasn’t very big, but what’s really cool is we got to feed the giraffes. We stood on top of a bridge, and the giraffe’s head was just above my feet.
The other zoo we went to was the Forth Worth zoo. Much closer to home. It was way bigger than the other zoo. What I found funny was that the Forth Worth zoo was endorsed by Cheetos, Lexus, ect., which most likely explains why it was so big.
Another place we went to was the science and history museum. It was basically for kids, but we made the best of it. There were dinosaur bones, fossils, and scientific stuff. One of the really cool things we saw was a bed of nails. You laid on this huge bed platform and pushed a button. That button raised the series of actual nails. It felt pretty weird.
At some point during that trip we went to a Sonic. I keep seeing commercials in Bloomington about the restaurant, but I think the nearest Sonic is in Champaine. In Texas, that’s like one of the major fast food places, up there with Whataburger and Jack in the Box.
When we got back home, it was Thursday. Starting the upcoming Monday, I had to start my jury duty. Technically I planned on going to J-Man’s wedding that Saturday up in Michigan, but I had so many things to do already and I didn’t want to drive up there. Plus I didn’t have a wedding present.
Back to the jury duty, I had to call a number everyday after 5:00 and listen for my jury number. If they called it, I had to come in. During that whole week, I only had to come in twice. Of those two times, I was only picked for a case once. That case started and ended the same day. And I got a free lunch out of it. The judge said that in the 30 years he’s done this, the jury I was on was the fasted picked without complications, and the fastest that came to a conclusion. Basically, it was a civil case. The lady wanted to sue the guy for hitting his car, and wanted reward money for mental anguish and something else. My jury came to the conclusion that both parties were going to pay for their own expenses, and nobody was to be rewarded any money.
When I finally went back to work I asked everybody if they missed me. I got the answers that I expected. ;p
So that was really long, and I kind of apologize, but not really. Luv ya!
