I had my first experience with the infamous jury duty today.

I've heard stories, though none specific, about how terrible it is to get called in for jury duty.
The only gripe I have with it is that you have to sit and wait much, much longer there than we do for the DMV.

I was excited about going in to sit for a trial, and instead I sat in the waiting room for three and a half hours. I ended up watching 'The American President' for the third time; the dialogue is written and delivered rather well.
Driving to the Hall of Justice was a major pain in the ass... First off, I was half an hour late getting out of the house. There was some sort of accident on 94 E, so traffic slowed to a crawl as I sat agonizing about being late to begin with.
When I arrived, I realized that nobody really cared that I was late, though i quickly began wishing I had brought a book so I could at least catch up on my reading.

After that, the movie started so I focused my attention on that, and besides my ass getting sore form sitting for so long, I was glad to find that jury duty isn't the horrible, life-destroying process I'd previously believed it to be.
My only worry was that the court would keep me there until 4:30, so it was a pleasant surprise to be let go around noon.

All in all, I'm quite happy to announce that I earned $25 for sitting on my ass. ;D
