I'll knock 'em all dead, too...
I know it's a little early for Halloween but I though of the most fantastic costume idea. I haven't been this excited about any of the costumes I've ever worn before (or wanted to), so this is one big deal to me.
I want to be a jazz singer, the kind of dame you'd imagine center stage in a hazy nightclub, singing her heart out into a microphone with a tall guy plucking the bass, a percussionist tapping on the cymbal and maybe a trumpet or a few clarinets.
Actually, I pretty much want to do that all the time. Unfortunately my throat doesn't always agree with what I want to sing, and I'm sure smoking doesn't help much either.
I feel like I'm studying for a role to play. This is exactly the kind of deal I've been looking for, something which I can use as a creative outlet and really throw myself into. I've been listening to much more big band, jazz, swing and the like as of late and Steve and I felt it's perfect. I'm going to start learning some songs that I can sing and acquaint myself with some of the lingo (isn't hard in the least, most of it's still pretty commonplace).
I've been wanting to learn some new dances as well... Funny how a little thing like a costume can get me off my ass and doing things again.
