The Blood Runs
Late Evening on the 26th of Fevrier in the Year 1186
Odette, Kahlan
House Valerian: Anteroom
Odette sits in the anteroom, still dressed in her simple black gown, touches of blood on her hands. Her woolen cloak lies in a puddle at her feet as she sits on the bench staring out at the garden through the window.
Kahlan pushes the large door open slowly, entering the fairly empty hall of the house. Unfamiliar to the home, he enters slowly as to not be noticed, which is an odd notion to have...especially while wearing armor. His eyes look at the various pieces of artwork until someone asks him if he needs help, "I'm looking for a Miss Oddete, is she in perchance?"
The young woman points to the far window and Kahlan nods and smiles, "Thank you." He heads over to the window slowly, making a little more noise than usual with side hurting more than it did. As he gets closer he asks, "Miss Odette?"
Odette hears her name pronounced and turns to the door and the fighter standing there trying to be unobtrusive. She smiles and gestures him to sit beside her. "Just Odette is fine really. I"m not one for titles and such... Are you alright? That was no little jab there?" Her voice betrays her country origins with its slurring dialect. Usually its well cloaked but for some reason she isn't bothering. Her look is warm and concerned.
Kahlan somewhat gingerly takes a seat next to you on the bench as to not agrivate the wound so it can heal. His hands are cut and bruised from the fierce blows. Turning to you, "I am well...it wasn't a serious wound and he missed anything vital." His kind blue eyes look back at you as he offers you a smile, "You are ok...I wanted to make sure you didn't get injured at all."
Odette tucks a chestnut hair behind her ear, as she tilts her head to get a better view of his face as they are speaking. "No I'm fine. I think Gabi was a might... was fairly frightened though. She's not used to violence I'd say. Especially not from those she cares about... For me, well its another story entirely." Her tone is caring even if she looks a bit irreverant as she gestures to the hall surrounding them. "Glad to hear they didn't do anything permanent... " She pauses and takes a breath. "I've never seen a man killed before.. or kill. Its something isn't it?" She looks down and her hair fans over her bright teal eyes. It might be the light but it looks as though she flushed. "It's really something to behold..."
Kahlan takes a deep breath, thinking back about the incident. His his steel blue eyes follow yours even under the shroud of loose hair, "I'm sorry you had to witness that."
She answers promptly and plainly. "I'm not." She brings her gaze to meet his, it is not a passive or frightened look. Her eyes are full of an intense seeking, as if she's try to puzzle out something within her own mind and find it within his eyes. "There's something awe inspiring about knowing what we are willing to kill for... what we are willing to risk our lives for... it makes the blood rush. Forces me to mind just how fragile life is, and just how passionate." She brushes her hair back behind her shoulder again and the tinge of pink is visible on her cheeks. She looks back to the window and out to the fountain.. and the cage that dangles there in the dark. Then she turns back to the soldier... "I'm sorry, such thoughts I have. I shouldn't be sharing them.. you've had a rough day to be sure."
Kahlan looks around the large hall and smiles, returning his gaze to his hands in his lap. He clenches a fist, feeling the soreness from the fight. A moment of silence fills the air after your words, "I...enjoyed it. I...always have." His blue eyes don't waiver from your gaze, "You never have to remind and Argonian soldier how passionate life is."
Odette full lips crack into the wry smile. "I guess we have that in common, each in our own way..." She runs her hands along her arm and then settles it in her lap. She looks back to him, her look a bit coy for a second and then outright impish. "I can only imagine what you'd be capable of her in our salon..." She chuckles to herself, but her eyes don't lose that curiosity to them.
Kahlan looks to the salon and then back to you, catching the wry impishness in your gaze if not your voice. "Is that invite?" he asks pointblankly with a small grin of his own playing on his lips. He leans back a little more in the chair, and glances out into the garden for a brief moment before meeting your gaze again in anticipation of the answer.
Odette watches the man become more at ease and her grin grows wider. "It would be if I was allowed... I'm still a novice." She makes the word sound like a horrible curse on her lips. "But soon that will be remedied and then..." She shifts her position and turns to face him more directly, leaning into her hip and shoulder. Her hand runs through her hair and travels downward to rest gracefully on her collarbone. She looks at him directly, an obvious heat in her gaze. "Well then, we'll see just what you are capable when in the throws of passion... and armed with something.. appropriate." Her tone if full of desire and anticipation. Its obvious her debut is long overdue and she is in a rush in begin her service.
Kahlan, a foreigner, has limmited understanding of the Night Court and has little regard for all it's rules. "I don't much understand all of that..." He strokes his chin slowly smiling coyly as he feels the heat in your gaze, "You do not already have a master to serve?" His question is rather direct or what he's been told about this house has been the legendary rumour.
Odette chuckles then releases a soft sigh. "My mistresses right now are Time and Patience. I am a novice but once I debut I will be allowed as Gabrielle is to take any patrons of my choosing. It can be arranged that I serve one Master or Mistress exclusively.. but that would be rare I think. The relationship I have with each patron can be much like a servant or even slave in some cases. I am taught to yield to the desires of another..." Despite the educational nature of her conversation, her tone remains engaged. As if she is envisioning the aspects of her service as she explains them. "It is in someways far too complicated... but once I debut it will be more enjoyable at least..." All throughout her speaking her finger lazily traces the line of her neck and intermittently toys with her long hair.
Kahlan chuckles and pats your knee. Your eyes get a better look of his bruised and cut hand and a feel for the hand strength this soldier has, "Rest up then and once you are allowed, I will show you the passion of an Argonian soldier." He leans a little closer feeling the strained conflict in your voice. He whispers coyly already getting a good sense for your strength, toughness, and rare passion, "Are you sure you won't be easily broken?"
Odette 's back straightens minutely as he pats her knee, the simple gesture enough contact to get her sensitive 'disposition' to react instinctively. She feels him lean closer, occupying more of the space between then, and she does not retreat backward in anyway. Her reply is full of youth's braizen pride and something else, less easily detected. "You wouldn't ask if you thought I would be... but the only sure way is to come and try me yourself now isn't it?" She looks down at his abused hand thoughtfully. She trails her finger along a clear patch of unharmed skin on his hand and then rests her hand next to his as if she is comparing.
Kahlan tilts his hand on your knee so you can see his palm as well. Now that he is close enough to fully take in your scent, a deep breath takes in your scent. Finally closing his hand over the top of your he continues in his softer voice, "I shall let you get some rest now...I have little regard for rules, which is quite troublesome at this point. Which can be quite....troublesome at this point." His smile remains soft, with a slight playfulness you've come to spot easily.
Odette chuckles but its a low throaty sound. "Mmm. Something else we have in common... I look forward to discover what else we share." She traces the line in his palm with the edge of her nail before standing. "But you are right, rest is in order. For now anyways." She offers her hand to him, knowing he is still injured, and that such movements cannot be comfortable. "My debut should occur within a few weeks time... and you are welcome to attend if you'd like an invitation. It should be quite an evening" She winks as that familiar smirk gracing her lips.
Kahlan takes your hand and stands slowly, pursing his lips slightly. He replies, "Perhaps I will, Odette...either way..", he lifts his other hand and taps your grinning lips with the tip of his index finger, "Soon, there will be something to truely grin about."
Odette grins wider and then plays at nipping the tip of his finger. "Alright.. I'll hold you to that."
Kahlan lets his gaze linger on hers a moment before heading for the large door from which he entered.
