[The communicator flips out of her pocket just in time to catch a glimpse of the half-ghost--and flashing teeth. It hits the ground roughly at the same time Youmu screams--and something canine yelps in pain.]

Ah--Chen-san! Be careful, there are three of them that I can see--

[There is an undignified yelp again, more distant--and not from the half-ghost.]

--two, now. One has a bad leg, but...so do I.

[You hear yowling noise as Chen tries to pounce on the back of the wolf with the bad leg, ripping at it]

Chen-san!

[While the wolf closest to the nekomata savaging its crippled counterpart turns on Chen, the third wolf charges to take advantage of Youmu's apparent weakness--and distraction.

The tip of the longer blade whistles through the air--and catches the third wolf under the chin, in the throat. The blow bats it away, but not before it gets more blood on her from the arterial spray.]

[Chen rides the wolf like a clawed, fanged, cowboy, trying to stay on even as it tried to get at her]

[This would...almost have been funny, if the situation was less dire and Youmu wasn't bleeding and hobbling to move up where her katana would reach.

The wolf Chen was on was bucking despite its injuries--old and new. The remaining one might have been reconsidering, if it was any other creature--but a wolf's pack was family. It wasn't running anywhere.]

[Finally, it happens. Chen gets thrown off the wolf.]

[Even the air though, she lands on all fours in a crouching position and hisses defiantly]

[Youmu manages to move into range just as Chen falls off. The injured wolf whirled to turn on the nekomata--and was quite literally cut off.

Roukanken being wedged in its spine was both a good and a bad thing--the good being that this wolf was dead, the bad being that there was still one that was very not dead. And the katana was stuck

[Chen didn't respond at first, as she charged, pounced, and drove her claws into the wolf's eyes, tearing]

[When it was done, Chen stepped away and looked down at herself]

I need to wash.

[Chen looked very disappointed with that statement.]

I'm sure they can do that at the hospital, Chen-san.

[Youmu checks the wound on her leg, finally--it was shallow, and had hit no major arteries...but it was messy, even woth the bleeding stopped. And she'd be slow...

...though speaking of messy, her swords were thoroughly gunked up by now. And she wasn't about to put them away dirty. So, the half-ghost set about to cleaning the blades first--and making a few sad faces at the small nick in the katana's cutting edge.]
