today i listened to a lot of penn jillette's radio show and during it i got two very neat ideas.

first, while they were talking a lot about tattoos i got the idea for a tattoo i would love to get, but the social and professional consequences render it unlikely that i ever will - i want a tattoo of the hebrew word "emet" (aleph-mem-tet, meaning "truth") on my forehead. it's the forehead position that is crucial to a good portion of the meaning behind this tattoo, but also what makes it extremely unlikely i'll ever do it. why, you may ask, would i want such a tattoo? first, i adore thinking about and discussing truth, so putting a symbol of that on my person is not a great leap for me. as for the rest... in the myth of the golem, "emet" was written on the head of the man-shaped hunk of clay to bring it to life. when the first letter was erased, it became "met" (meaning "dead") and the golem ceased to live. writing this in hebrew on my forehead simultaneously indicates my affair with mythology and makes the statement that i am an artificial being. the latter statement, that i am an artificial being, can be taken in many ways, but to me it would mean that sentience is sentience and that artificial intelligence would be as much life as i since everything works on mechanistic principles anyway. additionally it would make this statement into an argument towards religious individuals, since it brings up the myth of adam - that humans were just constructs of god anyway.

the second idea i had today, which is something i might actually do (if it isn't being done already) is to create a simple internet column/blog which, basically, just blatantly creates, fictionalizes and lies about news every day. although i believe that this would be different from sites that parody the news (such as the onion), i can't adequately put into words at the moment of what that difference would comprise. perhaps i just need to be less sleep-deprived in order to either formulate the right ideas or to realize that there is no difference. does anybody out there know of a site that already exists where someone obviously and explicitly falsifies and creates daily world events? (no, uncyclopedia doesn't count, although some of what i'm thinking is similar to that)
